Tioseco was a faculty member of the arts department of the University of the Asia and the Pacific and was a regular contributor for several magazines and top newspapers, including the Philippine Daily Inquirer and the Philippine Star.
Tioseco, who met Bohinc on a trip to Slovenia, wrote in his column, “it is important for people to write about their own cinemas and not let it be left to those outside to dictate what matters.”

Eternal rest, grant unto Alexis Tioseco and Nika Bohinc O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen.
Deepest condolences to their families.
i had the privilege of being one of alexis’ students. and i am ever grateful for having had that opportunity. Alexis was a great man who had great respect for our country and those who artistically contributed to it. rest in peace Sir Tioseco. thanks to you, i will never look at cinematography the same again
we were never introduced but i cried when i received a text about it from my friend.
i remember that months ago, i sobbed reading through alexis’ letter to nika in rogue.
such a sad sad loss for Philippine cinema.
may they rest in peace.
i know they will make beautiful movies in heaven.
may justice be serve for a remarkable filmmaker
Rest in Peace Sir Tioseco. JUSTICE!
Honestly, doesn\\\\\\\’t sound like a robbery. Why make it a murder when all you want is money, and why leave a witness (the other maid) alive? Someone must really have it for this person. I watched him on an ANC show with that Caparas director being pissed off because of his youth.
I just saw this guy on ANC like a month ago! I can’t believe this…He seemed like a really cool guy.
Rest in piece Alex and to your girlfriend Nica. I really can’t put into words what i feel right now my high school schoolmate. We are in deep shock. Our deepest Condolence to Tioseco Family.
Sir Tioseco,
It was a privilege to be your student. One semester of Film, with you as my teacher, has made a big difference in how i see the world. THANK YOU!
You serve as an inspiration to many.
Rest in Peace, Sir Tioseco!
We pray that JUSTICE prevails.
shorty was alexis’ nickname for me, he was new in school and we instantly became friends, talking on the phone and watching concerts together…he liked giving me cds of his favorite music so i too can love them as much as he does…he would also lend me movies to watch, still trying to influence me to like them too…but we drifted apart in college, and even though we haven’t seen each other in 2 years, his memories are still with me and i cherish him as one of my dearest friends…this is a total shock to me, and i am writing this to let eggy know that he is one of my deepest friends and everything wouldn’t be the same without him…myy deepest condolences to his family…love you eggy, rest in peace….
