And The Nescafe Gold Spot Awards 2009 Judges Are…
The Nescafe Gold Spot Awards (NGSA) 2009 seeks to recognize the metro’s best establishments with the help of our readers, but we’ve also enlisted the help of experts to help us narrow down your nominations. An interesting mix of reputable food writers, chefs and food enthusiasts, our panel of judges will prove invaluable as they share their knowledge about wining and dining in Metro Manila.
Becky Kho is the editor-in-chief of the country’s best-selling food magazine, Yummy, which turns three in March. She was also a panelist for the first GSA in 2008.
“Franco” is the blogger behind this year’s Philippine Blog Awards’ Best Food & Beverage blog, Table for Three, Please, which is also almost three years old.
Chef Him Uy de Baron is a graduate of Le Cordon Bleu in Sydney and was Sydney-based before returning to Manila to put up the catering company Chef Cuisine two years ago. Chef Him also does food styling, consultancy, research and development, and other food and service projects.
Chef Aileen Anastacio is a graduate of the California Culinary Academy. She hosts QTV’s “True Confections” and is a Yummy columnist. She’s also the head chef of Goodies and Sweets. Like Becky Kho, she was also a panelist for the 2008 GSA.
Cherie Gil is an award-winning actress and a sophisticated eater with a well-traveled palate, although it doesn’t show. Cherie took cooking courses under Peter Kumps in New York and at the International School for Culinary Arts and Hotel Managemen (ISCAHM) under Chef Norbert Ghandler but realized afterwards that “cooking isn’t much for me. I prefer to do the eating!”
JJ Yulo is a foodie and food writer who writes for Rogue and Yummy. Although he trained to be a chef at the Institute of Culinary Education in New York, he doesn’t want to be called a chef but rather, a cook or a “food obsessive.” He also has a blog called World Wide Hedonists 2.0 that dabbles in food and music.

So is this the part where we vote for the best judge now?
JJ Yulo. I love your blog and your articles in Rogue. For the life of me, why do you have to poke your nose with a chopstick? Or are you mimicking kidlat tahimik in one of his famous nose flute numbers? People might question your hygiene practices. Just my 2 cents.
@Crabbypatty, are you referring to Cherie Gil?
Ms. Gil is definitely most yummy.
