The YouTube-famous dancing inmates of the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center got a once in a lifetime chance to train under Michael Jackson’s choreographer Travis Payne. For two days, Payne taught the inmates the steps to “The Drill,” the last choreography he and Jackson did for the “This Is It” concert before Jackson’s untimely demise in June 2009, reports Sun.Star Cebu.
“This Is It” dancers Daniel Celebre and Dres Reid joined Payne in the dance number, according to the YouTube video uploaded by Sony Pictures DVD.
Cebu is one of the stops of the group’s peace tour because of the “fame that has come to the inmates dancing to [Jackson’s] music,” Payne, Jackson’s associate director for 18 years, said. “It’s just a blessing to continue to share his messages for love and peace and to feel the love of all the Filipino people.”
To be featured exclusively on CNN, the peace tour is in conjunction with the worldwide release of This Is It on Blue-ray and DVD on January 26.

The inmates are also reportedly featured in the coffee book Official Michael Jackson Opus, reports PhilStar.com. The book supposedly includes four pictures of the inmates dancing “Thriller,” their tribute to the late King of Pop that was uploaded to YouTube shortly after Jackson’s death. “Michael’s fans are as diverse as the population of Earth, from Israeli teenagers to Filipino prison inmates to American soccer mums,” the book states.
