ABS-CBNNews.com reports that the US government is keeping an eye on the two sons of former military comptroller Carlos Garcia who were convicted of cash smuggling late last year. The case was filed when they failed to declare to US customs officers that they were carrying $50,000 each when they arrived at the San Francisco International Airport in December 2003.

Interaksyon.com reports that Retired Major General Carlos Garcia was arrested at around 7 a.m. today in his residence in Barangay Bahay Toro, Project 6, Quezon City. He will serve his two -year sentence at the National Bilibid Prisons in Muntinlupa. According to Armed Forces of the Philippines chief Eduardo Oban, Garcia, whose family had also been investigated on for their unexplained wealth, had willingly surrendered.
