Ten PELICULA 2009 films on our must-watch list
1. THE SPIRIT OF THE BEEHIVE / EL ESPIRITU DE LA COLMENA If you've seen (and loved) the more recent Spanish masterpiece Pan's Labyrinth, then this 1973 film is for you. The Spirit of the Beehive balances on the same fine line between fairy tale and reality, zooming in on a little girl's life in dreary, post-Civil War Spain. She befriends a wounded fugitive in a nearby barn, believing she conjured up a real Frankenstein. Eventually, the fantasy reveals itself to be part of a frightening reality.

Imelda is a great docu, too. It's available at Video City, so no reason for you not to see it. I enjoyed it immensely. She's quite a character, Imelda. I wish she wasn't the old dictator's wife. Perhaps she could have been a businessman's wife, in which case she would have ruined the business with her also taking the blame for having so many shoe pairs siphoned off the stockrooms.

I've seen this bio. Ninoy was indeed a thorn on the side of Marcos. And he was funny, too. I wish more middle class would come out and be like Ninoy. who might not have been a communist (sayang), but sure had firepower.
