"Sana natalo na lang s'ya," says boxer Nonito Donaire Jr.'s grandmother after he's declared WBO super bantamweight champion

Published: Feb 6, 2012 - 5:37am

ABS-CBNNews.com reports that the family of new World Boxing Organization (WBO) super bantamweight champion Nonito Donaire, Jr. "is disappointed with the boxer despite the success he has achieved in the sport." Donaire's tense relationship with his family has been publicized in the past.

The report noted: "In General Santos City, Donaire’s grandparents watched his bout against Wilfredo Vazquez Jr., but they did not celebrate when he was named the winner via split decision." Donaire fought Vasquez on February 4 (U.S. time) in San Antonio, Texas.

The report quoted Donaire's grandmother, Teresita Dente, who said, "Sana natalo na lang s'ya. Kung natalo s'ya ako lang yata ang magtatatalon sa tuwa dito (I had hoped he would lose. If he had lost, I'd be the only person jumping for joy here)."

According to the report, Dente claimed that Donaire had no respect for his father, Nonito Sr. Meanwhile, the boxer's grandfather Epifanio Donaire, said, "Hindi talaga ako makalimot sa pag-limot n'ya sa amin (I can't forget how he forgot about us)."

To see ur children succeeding in life for me its an overwhelming feeling. You have to be proud for them. But as as son/ daughter without our parents were nothing we cannot be what we are now today or tommorow without them and that is absolute simply because we will not exist in this world without their choice and we are made because of their choice the thing that we must respect without any objection regardless of what life we have now i mean it does'nt matter if we are poor or rich what is important is the life that they GAve for us we do't have a right to choose at that time or even maybe to regret or blame anything or someone and if you do well blame GOD if you are st*p*d were GOD providence. right?. Another point is if we can say that we are already succesfull in life its our duty to help our parents in all aspects eveen it is financial aspect without even saying them to do so. for me its normal and natural its just only a small thing compare of what they sacrifice for us specially our mother and that's reasonable. If u think that u r made for investment yes u r right you must to contribute not even to your family but also to the society you have to serve not only to your own interest but also to the interest of everybody and u cannot escape in that coz its an obligatory as long u live in rules. "rules of material world"! I'm not saying that u have to be st*p*d
]what i mean is help your parents give ur part not everything u had " they knew it so dont be worry"!they will not take everything u have!

Looks like Donaire's relatives just found this article. Just a question: Do you raise your kids just so you can get money from them later? You have kids because you want to and you do things for them without ever expecting anything in return. If they give back or decide to help out their parents then that's veru good. But from my experience, yung mga anak who didn't feel loved or got treated badly, yun yung mga ayaw magbigay. (Obviosuly!) Nevertheless, it's wrong for parents to obligate kids to pay them back. It's like you just had kids as an investment.

really im not interested with DONAIRE napakahambog na tao hindi cya magandang tularan sa mga batang maging sucessful sa larangan ng boxing di katulad ni PACMAN na very humble kahit sa dami ng blessings na natanggap.

although mukhang mahangin itong si Donaire, base sa mga articles in the past I can sense na mukhang pera din yung family nya. Dyan naman nagsimula yan eh, sa pera. Just because champion iniisip nila pati sila yayaman.

This is just one side of the story. Want to hear what Donaire has to say. He ran a clinic on Vasquez in San Antone Sunday. It was masterful. At this point in their careers, i believe Donaire is better than Pacquiao.

Before some of us conclude that Nonito Donaire Jr. is at fault here, let's not forget that there are some families that are dysfunctional...so much so that there are members of that family who want to cut ties. We don't know how he was treated. Pinoys assume that families are all good. Let's not forget that every family is different and we don't know what crazy things are/were done to its members. If you have a good family, be thankful that you don't have Nonito Donaire Jr.'s problems.

That's why even if they try their hardest he'll never be the next pacquiao.

Dapat ayusin ni Donaire ito, dahil kapag natapos na ang lahat ng tagumpay at kasikatan, iilang bagay lang ang natitira sa tao. Kabilang dito ang pamilya.
