UPDATED: Another MRT tech glitch stalls operations on Tuesday morning, February 7; MMDA reports MRT now operational

ABS-CBNNews.com reports that "a portion of both the northbound and southbound lanes of the MRT 3 got stalled on Tuesday morning because the automatic signaling system failed." The report noted: "As a result, passengers in Taft Avenue, Magallanes, Ayala, Buendia, Guadalupe and Boni stations would not be able to use the MRT."

 

As of 8:40 a.m., the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), via its Twitter page, reported: "MRT3 is half line operating up to Shaw Blvd and back to North Ave only. Track problem in Guadalupe area being repaired." Then, later on, the MMDA tweeted: "MRT is operational as of 9:20 a.m."

    Hey, Annymous... Are you serious? The first glitch in more than two years? You're kidding. Really. You have to be. Either that or you're one of those people who run it. Panalo ka.     I've used the MRT for quite a while and this is the first glitch they had in more than two years. Also do take note that the maintenance crew fixed the issue in two hours. That is an impressive feat and MRT administration do deserve credit.

    I was in Singapore last Dec 16 when their MRT broke down and it took them longer to get it up and running. In my opinion our LRT 2 can also compare with Singapore's MRT in both facilities and trains. I wished they used the same LRT 2 trains and facilities when constructing the MRT.

    I also agree that MRT admin should increase the fare.

    3rd world infrastructure baka maunahan pa tayo ng vietnam sa pag kakaroon ng modernong rapid transit system. puro kasi kurakot ang inuuna at wala pakialam sa tao since hindi nga naman sila sumasakay diyan kundi sa mamahaling kotse na may driver at bodyguard pa.

    I ride the MRT everyday for work and my wish taasan na nila yung fare for maintenance and mawala na yung mga kasakay mo na may dalang shovel, saw and may scent na putok. I'm sorry to discriminate, these type of MRT riders yung malakas manulak, makipagsiksikan, walang urbaniad, they don't know how to fall in line,

    I ride the MRT and I hate it. Hindi reliable. Sana yun man lang. Everyday 50-50 yung chance na may sira. I won't mind paying a bit more if they can just be more organized. Kahit sa pagsabi na sira nga yung train walang sistema.

    again?? no wonder.. simpleng pagpapalit nga lang ng battery ng mga orasan di nila magawa eh! pansinin niyo mga orasan sa mga stations, di pare-pareho kasi di umaandar.. sayang nman ang kinikita nila sa mga milyong pasahero na sumasakay sa MRT.. Aayusin na lang nila yan pag nag number 1 na nman tayo as "WORLD'S WORST TRAIN SYSTEM". Gusto ng gobyerno ntin lagi tayong NUMBER 1!!

    I'm dependent on the MRT for commute along EDSA and management has to shape up. Glitches like this happens means shoddy maintenance. And while they're at it, please run more trains. If not, privatize it already. Your patrons deserve better.
