ABS-CBNNews.com reports: "In a disclosure to the stock exchange, Jollibee Foods Corp. (JFC) said its wholly owned subsidiary Golden Plate Pte. Ltd. signed an agreement to form a company with Beeworks Inc.—described as a company owned by mostly Singaporeans with experience in retail and hospitality sector—to open and operate Jollibee stores in Singapore."

ABS-CBNNews.com reports that President Benigno Aquino III has joined the growing number of Filipinos wishing for Filipino-American-Mexican singer Jessica Sanchez to win in this year's “American Idol.” In an interview with Bombo Radyo, Aquino reportedly said: "Syempre matutuwa ka naman doon na number 3 na yata ngayon saka ‘yung naso-solicit niyang support from the communities that are eagerly watching her... wish her well. Hopefully, she really reaches the top."

ABS-CBNNews.com reports that former Caloocan City Mayor Macario "Boy" Asistio Jr. has filed a libel and unjust vexation complaints against Annabelle Rama with the Caloocan Prosecutor's Office. It said the complaints stemmed from the long-standing feud between Rama and Asistio's partner, Nadia Montenegro. Asistio said he didn't want to get involved in the fight of the two women, but admitted he was hurt by Rama's statements against him on the microblogging site Twitter.

InterAksyon.com reports that a Filipina was recently awarded the 2012 Aerospace Teacher of the Year Award in USA, in recognition of her outstanding efforts in the field of rocketry. It said Shella Condino, who was born in the Philippines, founded the Presidio Rocket Club, a club for young aspiring aeronautical engineers in Presidio High School, Texas.

Interviewed on Monday, May 14, after signing a contract with ABS-CBN for her upcoming show "The X Factor Philippines," Charice said: "I think she's good and I think she's doing really well. I really feel that she's gonna win."

Inquirer.net reports that the Chinese language will be taught in public high schools ר particularly in third and fourth years — starting this school year. Department of Education public information officer Kenneth Tirado, however, said this is not in any way connected with the ongoing territorial dispute between the Philippines and China over the Panatag (Scarborough) Shoal. He said this is, in fact, part of DepEd's Special Program in Foreign Language (SPFL), which started in 2009 in selected public elementary schools where students learned Spanish, French, Japanese, and German.
