GMA News Online reports that the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) withdrew a 50-centavo fare hike for jeep drivers in the wake of the recent rollback in oil prices. LTFRB board member Manuel Iway said they had made it clear the provisional fare hike would be withdrawn once diesel prices fall below P45 per liter. The fare adjustment takes effect Tuesday, May 15.

GMA News Online, via radio dzBB, reports that four people — including a policeman and a village chairman — were killed in a shooting incident that marred a bikini open event in Jaro town in Iloilo province shortly after midnight Thursday. The report said the violence started when one of the fatalities, Rolando Tabuada, a village chairman, tried to pacify the group of PO3 Jerome Jacolina, who were allegedly making a scene protesting the P3,000 bill for the food and beer they consumed. Tabuada reportedly grappled for the firearm that was drawn by one Henry Jacolina, who the report said was PO3 Rolando Tabuada's cousin. The report said the gun went off and hit Tabuada in the chest. Shots reportedly rang out for about 10 minutes.
