For the Frugal Foodie: Top 25 Meals Under P150

Published: Apr 8, 2010 - 1:52am

good_burgers6. Good Burgers
Price: P75-P100
Address: Greenhills (723-4663, 723-GOOD), Pasig (910-8138) and Quezon City (435-4663)

Good Burgers' selection of chicken and vegetarian burgers are hefty and tasty, minus the grease. For less than P150, the "best"- sized burgers satisfy even the biggest appetites. Our top picks: The Veggie Salsa Mex with spicy salsa sandwiched in between the burger buns and the Margherita Burger, served with mozzarella cheese, roasted tomatoes and fresh basil leaves. Go healthy and add P10 to opt for whole wheat buns.

penpen7. Pen Pen Restaurant
Dish: Tinapa Flakes Pasta
Price: P120
Address: 105-C Scout Castor St., South Triangle, Quezon City. Tel. No. 332-4021, (0916) 600-2419.
Delivery is available within the Tomas Morato area. Minimum order is P500, no delivery charge.

If you're sick of the same old pasta dishes, try Pen Pen's Pinoy twist to this classic favorite. One of the restaurant's bestsellers, the Tinapa Flakes Pasta is topped with slightly salty tinapa (smoked milkfish) flakes, shredded queso de bola, tomatoes, onions and garlic, with two pieces of garlic bread on the side.

roastbeef8. The Sandwich Guy
Dish: Ultimate Roast Beef Sandwich
Price: P95
Delivery is available within branch vicinity; minimum order is P200.

Smoky roast beef tenderloin, gooey cheese sauce, tomatoes and lettuce are piled in between two slices of grilled wheat bread. A healthier choice compared to fast food burgers and sandwiches, the Ultimate Roast Beef is also good for two not-so-hungry people. You can choose one more kind of sauce or replace the cheese sauce with up to two sauces from the following: garlic mayo, lemon mayo, mustard, ketchup, wasabi, chili and yogurt.

flaming_wings9. Flaming Wings
Dish: Wing Meal and Tenders Meal
Price: P120
Delivery is available, minimum order of P200.

The Wing Meal (two pieces of juicy chicken wings) and Tenders Meal (breaded chicken fillet) are both served with rice, and your choice of sauce (original, mild 'n' sweet, wild, smokey barbecue and Caribbean Jerk), dip (blue cheese, ranch, aioli, wasabi mayo, balsamic mayo and honey mustard) and drink (red iced tea, pink lemonade, mango juice and bottled water). We recommend the tangy, slightly spicy Caribbean Jerk sauce with the ranch dip washed down with pink lemonade.

tomato_kick

10. Tomato Kick
Dish: Chicken Alfredo
Price: P140
Address: 55 Maginhawa St., UP Village, Quezon City

The chicken is just how you'd want it: crispy, juicy and tender. Paired with the chicken, the just-right cream sauce makes you ask for more rice–good thing the dish comes with a generous serving of the Pinoy staple.

it's amusing how people point out the the articles here in spot about cheap eats are not really cheap. kasi totoo naman.rnrnsiguro ito ang definition ng cheap ng mga writers or intended audience ng spot. but there are so many other places where you can find enjoyable meals na mas mura pa.rnrnexplore explore explore!

You should go to club 650 in libis. The burger stand "regrub" sells mouth watering burgers starting at P55 only. They sell a triple patty burger for only P120 or P130. Man, those burgers are the best.

There's a new place in Kapitolyo that sells great meals for only 65 pesos. It's called Hungry Boss. Tried it and their food is surprisingly good. Better than all mentioned in the list!

    (1) i agree with mel. mr. kabab!

    (2) everything at steak and snackaroo also serve inexpensive food that (in my humble opinion) tastes better than slice and dice. :(
  • teena Apr 12 2010 @ 10:39am Report Abuse
    yeah,,why not create a list below 100...

being a fan of Tokyo 2x, mcdonalds, KFC and pizza hut (99 peso meals) ,,, finding meals below 150 is not something new for me...
  • Engr. Jhun Abraham Apr 10 2010 @ 06:55pm Report Abuse
    Nakakagutom....sarap....maraming choices...mura pa....try ko yan next time....try nyo rin....
  • igeramos Apr 10 2010 @ 03:36pm Report Abuse
Why not meals for 49 pesos. That would be a real challenge. Fast food joints not included.
  • balingkinitan Apr 10 2010 @ 12:16am Report Abuse
kyohal pa din ang mga prices ha...Carla is correct, if you could create a list below P100, way much better...
  • igeramos Apr 09 2010 @ 02:21pm Report Abuse
    @vomit. Villar, ikaw ba yan?
  • igeramos Apr 09 2010 @ 12:37am Report Abuse
    The list is so Patok!
  • Daquiri Apr 08 2010 @ 04:29pm Report Abuse

  • Carla Apr 08 2010 @ 01:39pm Report Abuse
If you can create a list below P100, even better! :D
  • Marc Apr 08 2010 @ 01:02pm Report Abuse
    What?! No Jollibee? Boo! haha
  • marianne Apr 08 2010 @ 12:33pm Report Abuse
Well, the article's a little iffy, because with a drink and service charge, I think most of your choices come closer to P200.

Also, you made some food chain choices which perhaps I would not have made (but then again taste is individual, as is critique of what one eats).

I would add Earle's Delicatessen sausage sandwiches (several kinds, almost all under P100) and the sandwich/pasta dishes at BlackSoup (154 Maginhawa).
  • fely Apr 08 2010 @ 11:14am Report Abuse
makes me want to take my lunch break early and try them all
  • vomit Apr 08 2010 @ 10:29am Report Abuse
Maybe I'm just poor and finding meals under P150 isn't a novelty for me (it's usually a necessity), but this list isn't very impressive.
  • rieya Apr 08 2010 @ 09:43am Report Abuse
