Yogurt Nation and the Lounge at the Fort
A space that combines a café with comfort food, a frozen yogurt place and an after-office lounge, Yogurt Nation and the Lounge at the Fort has it all covered. The first floor houses the self-serve yogurt place offering six flavors that include strawberry, cranberry, mango, melon, and ube apart from the original tart flavor, which you may top with their various toppings: fresh fruits, brownies, cereal and nuts. The mezzanine floor serves as the café, with comfort food favorites such as Tuna Mushroom Melt (P175), Salpicao Cream Pasta (P190) and Devilled Wings (P300). The lounge is located at the third level, where the unwinding is your only agenda. On the bar list are specialty drinks with quirky names such as Lychee Lee (P145), Green Clouds (P145) and Flaming Swishy (P145), and happy hour is stretched to 12 midnight: you only pay P300 for your fill of unlimited local beers (Mondays to Fridays, 5-8 p.m. and 9 p.m. 12 midnight).
Yogurt Nation and the Lounge is at The Sapphire Residences, 2nd Avenue Cor. 31st Street, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City.
Carbo-loading takes on a whole new meaning at The Spud Diner, the first potato-concept restaurant in the city. The Spud Diner is a cozy small spot bathed in cheery colors of orange and yellow, located at the Columns in Makati City. They don't only serve potatoes as a side dish, but made a whole menu out of potatoes: from Potato Carbonara, Shepherd's Pie to potato-inspired desserts. From the same owners of the popular food cart, Potato Corner, the team consulted the U.S. Potato Board in whipping up the creative potato dishes. "There's so many things you can do with potatoes," said Jose Magsaysay Jr., CEO of Cinco Corporation, the company behind Potato Corner and The Spud Diner. True enough, the soups, main dishes and desserts all have potatoes. What we liked: Baked Potato Lasagna (P90), with tasty beef and cheese in between layers of baked potato chips instead of lasagna and topped with melted cheese; and Ice Cream Temptation (P50), French fries covered in chocolate powder, served with vanilla ice cream, a dessert reminiscent of churros. They also have Baked Potatoes (starts at P50) and the well-loved flavored fries from Potato Corner.
The Spud Diner is at Tower 3 The Columns, Buendia corner Ayala Avenue, Makati City.
