Five new maki masterpieces have been added to Red Kimono’s menu following its "My Maki Masterpiece Challenge" to celebrate the Japanese restaurant’s 5th year anniversary. Specializing in modern Japanese cuisine, Red Kimono invited customers and Facebook fans to think out of the box and concoct their own maki recipes using uncommon ingredients and culinary inspiration not necessarily confined to Japanese cuisine.
The winning maki recipes from the 2-month competition now on Red Kimono’s menu are Thai Mango Sticky Maki (entry by Michelle Abundo & Irene Fernandez), Kurt’s Wheel (entry by Kurt Ho), a vegetarian creation called Kiyomi Maki (entry by Chef Ryan Morada), Euniko Maki with tinapa (entry by Eunice Campana) and the Cherry Blossom Maki by 12-year old Christine Alcordo.
The winning creations will join Red Kimono’s maki masterpieces--such as the Salmon and Cream Cheese Maki (P210), Red Scorpion Maki (P270) and the Hot Shot Roll (P215)--on the menu.
The winners also received P5,000 in cash and P5,000 in gift certificates each.
