The newest restaurant-cum-bar on Carlos Palanca Street in Legazpi Village is causing quite a stir. Not even two months old (they opened in January), The Plantation Bar and Bistro has already drawn a big crowd—regulars are a mix of corporate types who drop by for post-work beers and people who live in the neighborhood. Fresh interiors and downtempo tunes by Groove Nation playing all day make this laid-back dining destination the perfect retreat from the urban jungle that is Makati. Of course, it helps that they serve delicious, affordable dishes and P55-beer all day. Oh, and did we mention they’re the only restaurant serving the popular French gourmet coffee Malongo?

The menu offers a mix of continental comfort food and Bicolano specialties. Stuff yourself with filling dishes like Grilled Mediterranean Porkchops (P195), Margarita Grilled Tuna Steak (P265), Roasted Garlic Shrimp and Chorizo Pasta (P190), and Junjie’s Ultimate Burger (P350). Looking for something with a more local flavor? Try these: Pinangat (P80), a popular Bicolano dish; Oragon na Liempo (P260), paired with laing and tomato salsa; Guinobatan Longganisa (P165) and Bicol Abu (P165), two Bicolano favorites you can’t get anywhere in Manila.

You can't go wrong with good food and cheap booze (for Makati standards anyway) complemented by a relaxed vibe and personalized service—and The Plantation’s got this fool-proof combination down pat.

The food is great but I don't like the attitude of their staff who is rude. I also found a blog that confirms this. Plus their owner is a certified.. OH WELL...
