(SPOT.ph) What started out as a small, cozy milk tea place on Magiting Street that was frequented by college students and tea addicts is now a larger space along the busy Maginhawa strip in Teacher's Village, Quezon City. Peddling 30 kinds of iced milk tea in a bright and casual spot with free wi-fi, Moonleaf Tea Shop may not be that different from the many milk tea spots that have mushroomed all over the city, but the clincher is their pricepoints: a 22-ounce Moonleaf milk tea is a steal at P45. "We'd like to democratize milk tea," Thysz Estrada of Moonleaf Tea Shop said.

While add-ons such as pearls, pudding, milk and aloe vera range from P10-P15 per extra serving, Estrada says that their milk teas are still pretty affordable, prompting fans to come back every day of the week. Bestsellers include the Wintermelon Milk Tea with Pearls, Caramel Milk Tea, and the Hakka Milk Tea. All the milk tea varieties were developed by Taiwanese partners, and Moonleaf Tea servers are on hand to help milk tea drinkers customize their drink's sugar levels. "Some drinks, like the oolong tea-based drinks, should have higher sugar levels, ideally," Estrada shared. "But of course, ultimately, customers may decide how they like to take their drinks."
