Published: Jun 5, 2009 - 9:19am

frenchfilmThe 14th French Film Festival opens tonight, June 5 at 6:30 p.m. at the Shang Cineplex 3.   This year's festival features fourteen films which have been presented at the Cannes Film Festival, and includes local films such as "Independencia" by Raya Martin, "Sabongero" by Janice Perez and "Serbis" by Cannes award-winning director for 2009, Brillante Mendoza.

Tout de Suite, which was initially included in the screening list will no longer be shown in the festival.   "It has been rated X by the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB).   We respect the decision of the board that classified the film as 'not for public viewing', " said Martin Macalintal, Audiovisual Attache of the Embassy of France in the Philippines.   The Pianiste was also issued a special permit for only one screening.
