10 Must-Watch Movies in 2010

TOY STORY 3
Starring: Tom Hanks, Tim Allen
Director: Lee Unkrich
Release Date: June 23, 2010

One word: Pixar. Do you need any other reason to be there?

INCEPTION
Starring: Leonardo DiCaprio, Ellen Page, Marion Cotillard
Director: Christopher Nolan
Release Date: July 15, 2010

Except for a mind-bending teaser trailer, audiences don't really know much about Inception. Supposedly, DiCaprio plays a CEO who is also something of a criminal. Supposedly, the film takes place in the not-too-distant future. Supposedly, the plot involves technology that allows people to jump into other people's dreams and extract information. All we know for sure is that the film was written and directed by Christopher Nolan, the man who not only rejuvenated the Batman franchise but raised the bar forever for superhero movies with the murky, morally complex The Dark Knight. That's enough of a sell for me.

HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HOLLOWS, PART 1
Starring: Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson
Director: David Yates
Release Date: November 18, 2010

Cynics think that the climactic entry in the Harry Potter saga was split into two because Warner Bros. wanted to milk this cash-cow franchise for all the money it was worth. I prefer to believe that the filmmakers wanted enough elbow room to include as much of the richness and complexity of the final book as they could. Besides, if you're as devoted a fan as I am–i.e.: someone who re-reads each book right before the corresponding movie comes out–you won't start boycotting the series now, will you?

And because we couldn't limit the list to just ten, here are five bonus movies:

How strange. I tried clicking on the trailer for Inception and got to watch a trailer for Clash of the Titans instead. Damn these "embedding disabled upon request" clauses...and hurray for those alternative videos at the bottom!

The Movie of the Decade list has been released and if my memory serves me right, Nolan's 3 or 4 movies are in! That's another reason to watch Inception.
    I can't wait for harry.
Who's playing medusa in Clash of the Titans?Uma Thurman is the Medusa on the Lightning Thief. This will be a showdown if ever.

First there was Harry Potter. Then there was Twilight. Now there's Guardians of Ga'hoole. One commenter asked why the film based on the Percy Jackson title wasn't included. So many movies based on books for young adults...does this mean people are reading again or is Hollywood just running out of ideas that any old obscure series of books can get a greenlight?

I'm looking forward to The A-Team. I want to see if Liam Neeson and company can deliver.

By the way, you forgot to mention Jessica Biel, who is also in the cast.

Great list! Thanks for including "The Town" -- I myself am curious if Ben Affleck can top "Gone Baby Gone."

Ay, bakit hindi lumabas sa page ko ang trailers ng Clash of the Titans and Sex and the City 2? I couldn't decide what to ogle first: Sam Worthington or the clothes from SATC. Seems my laptop made the decision for me!
