Top 10 TV and Movie Monster Moms

2. Tonia played by Mona Lisa

Movie: Insiang (1976)

Object of tyranny: Daughter Insiang (Hilda Koronel)

Psychological trigger: Having your husband leave you with a house full of freeloading in-laws is enough to make any good-natured woman go nuts.

Monstrous deeds: Aside from kicking her in-laws to the curb and treating Insiang like a petty slave, Tonia intentionally dismisses Insiang's pleas when she comes running to her aid after being forcefully raped by Dado, Tonia's lover. When she catches Dado doing the nasty with Insiang, she boils over and stabs him in rage.

Maniacal dialogue: "Yan ang kadugo mo, masama ang ugali! Kaya ung nasaan man ang tatay mo, mamatay na sana siya at kanyang kinakasama!"

1. Madame Claudia Buenavista played by Jean Garcia

Telenovela: Pangako Sa 'Yo (2000-2002)

Object of tyranny: Yna (Kristine Hermosa), whom she considers too lowly and not good enough for her son, Angelo (Jericho Rosales), and Maria Amor, the alleged daughter of her arch nemesis Amor Powers (Eula Valdez)

Psychological trigger: This compulsive, power-hungry gambler does not only look down on maids, she makes them suffer. She hires Maria Amor so that she could administer "indirect revenge" on her.

Monstrous deeds: She definitely tops the list of monstrous moms because aside from torturing Maria Amor, she also ends up killing her. That turns out to be a big mistake when it's later revealed that Maria Amor is actually her own daughter. Oops.

Maniacal dialogue: "Madame! Kapag sumasagot sa 'kin, palaging may Madame!"

uhmmm where's Meryl Streep in Manchurian Candidate... she was creepy in there...channeling a Hilary Clinton plus it has a ghastly implied incest with her son Raymond (Liev Schieber.. correct spelling ba?)

i understand that it was based on the character originally played by Faye Dunaway but haven't seen it though so i'll stick with La Streep's rendition of Eleonor Printis Shaw...

Top 10 TV and Movie Monster Moms...

    - i was just expecting a list which is by SPOT Standard - world wide

    i agree with ronny's comment

and making a comment that this list is too kapamilya doesnt mean im a kapuso... duh!
  • ton May 04 2010 @ 11:57pm Report Abuse
if you are against the list...then give us memorable characters from teleseryes of GMA7.. if you can give a list, i'll be a kapuso... hahaha
    PEACE!
  • igeramos May 04 2010 @ 06:31pm Report Abuse
true, those teleseryes were created by committees. that's why whether it's kapamilya, kapuso, or kapatid they all look the same. even the ads, they cross over channels too. sometimes you see dingdong violating piolo's tv space... confusing.
  • Ronny May 04 2010 @ 05:28pm Report Abuse
I don't know why people have to ally themselves to the "kapamilya" or "kapuso" networks, that's just dumb. Watching their news coverage is fine, but have they provided us with quality and intelligent entertainment? If you watch teleseryes, it's hard to believe that anyone intelligent is involved in creating them.

what? si Jane Fonda kapamilya na?
  • don May 04 2010 @ 02:40pm Report Abuse
@hello: that's because GMA 7 shows don't have memorable or strong characters.
  • hello May 04 2010 @ 02:32pm Report Abuse
so kapamilya naman ang list na ito... eewww

Marlene Aguilar is a cross between Tetchie Agbayani and Caridad Sanchez. I'm not surprised if she actually appeared in SSR3.

About that "shake, rattle and roll 3" episode entitled "inay" wherein the undin appears, accdg to imdb, it stars real life monster mom marlene aguilar herself (her sole imdb credit). Does anyone remember her role in the movie? Was she the monster in prosthetics? Or is it one of those internet goofs (she's also credited in wikipedia.)
