Taiwanese-American visual artist James Jean is in Manila from January 5 to 7.
Probably best known for his work for the Vertigo’s graphic novel series Fables and Gerard Way’s (of My Chemical Romance fame) Umbrella Academy, Jean has dabbled in all forms of media—from fashion advertising (Prada and Philip Lim) to publications (ESPN, Rolling Stone, Playboy, The New York Times, among others) to his own published works: Process Recess, Process Recess 2: Portfolio, Xoxo: Hugs and Kisses, Fables: Covers, Process Recess 3: The Hallowed Seam, Kindling: 12 Removable Prints, Rift, and Rebus. His first visit to Manila took place in November 2009 right in time for the Philippine Ad Congress.
Jean is the recipient of multiple awards, including seven Eisners, three Harveys, a gold medal from the Society of Illustrators of New York, and a silver medal from the Society of Illustrators of Los Angeles.
