Even though Pres. Noynoy Aquino has admitted that his staff manages his social networking accounts, his Facebook fan page still got the highest number of "likes" among all Filipino politicians, reports GMANews.tv. As of July 8, over 1.63 million Facebook users have "liked" his page. The number of new fans sharply increased after the presidential inauguration on June 30.
Worldwide, Aquino is ranked third after US President Barack Obama (over 10.2 million fans) and former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (over 1.81 million fans). US First Lady Michelle Obama follows Aquino with over 1.57 million fans.
Aquino's Facebook wall is flooded almost every minute with requests for help, congratulatory messages and even appeals for him to marry his girlfriend, Valenzuela Councilor Shalani Soledad.
The page handler last posted on Tuesday, July 6: "Madaming nagtatanong kung totoo ba 'yung mga lumalabas sa TV na ang sapatos na suot daw ni P.Noy ay luma at kupas na. Totoo po ito. Ganyan ang pagkatao ng ating Pangulo, simple lamang at walang luho sa buhay."
Aquino also has a verified Twitter account. Though he wouldn't be able to personally use his Twitter and Facebook accounts, he promised to "talk directly" to his staff in charge of the accounts, reports GMANews.tv.
