Who knew that something that started out as a digital version of your trusty old padlock-protected "Dear Diary" could one day earn some serious bucks? We rounded up 10 of Manila's best-known money-making bloggers and asked them about the secrets to earning from what was once dubbed as the 'pajamas media.'
Enrico Dee
Byahilo.com
Blogs about: Travel
Groupie count: Around 3,000 loyal visitors a day
Cash in on this: Enrico earns around P20,000 to P40,000 a month, mostly from middleman ad scripts and a few direct advertisers on his blog.
Why he's worth the money: Since 2004, Enrico, popularly known online as 'Byahilo,' has been documenting his jet-setting trips around the 7,107 islands of the Philippines. This instantly won the hearts of wanderlust-y Pinoys, who get inspiration from his travels and destination tips. Enrico quit his job to become a full-time travel blogger in 2009.
Biggest purchase so far? Since he travels a lot, most of his blog earnings go to plane tickets and pocket money whenever he hops from one island to the next.

I've bought a Sackboy (very rare!) from the UK, three ultimate film nerd shirts from London, two necklaces from Bristol, a software program, two blog domains and half a dozen sexy heels from California with my blogging money.

This is funny. Just proves that MOST bloggers aren't earning BIG BUCKS. $70 is just my allowance for two days of food-tripping, LOL

@suzanne yep ur right. Mahirap talaga mag earn online. Hehehe. :)
Bakit wala ang napakahiwagang blog ko dito? Hahaha. Joke.
Blog ko mukhang malayo-layo pa dito haha (boy-kuripot.blogspot.com)
I know magkano kinikita nya monthly. hehe. pero secret :)
@Donald Serrano - "Nya"? Sino sya?
@Mischa Hi! Interesting question. I know I'm going to end up posing a gender bias by answering it, but I'll go through with it anyway just to answer your question. The way I see it, guys are the more "techie" specie, judging by the sheer number of male IT professionals I've met. Maybe because being interested in tech is our version of your Barbie/Bratz whathaveyou (gender bias!) So I'd say guys are more in tune with exploring the ins and outs of cyberspace, more than girls. But this does not mean that there are no big-time lady bloggers out there who earn big bucks--just take a look at Shai Coggins, co-founder of b5media. :)
bat ganun. May blog po na 30,000/day ang page views dyan pero 10k per month lang. Mas malaki pa yung blog na may 1,500 page views, kumikita ng $1,000+ per month x5 ang kita pag divided by 20 ang page views? so the lesser the visitors the higher the earnings? Pag 1 per day lang mas malaki!
astig sina jehzlau, micamyx at batangyagit! idol ko mga yan!
Magboblog na rin ako, pero hindi ko sasabihin sa mga tao para mas malaki ang kita!
Hi B1! Most of the earnings data we have here are but mere estimates, given that not all bloggers are willing to divulge how much they really earn through their blogs. Some bloggers earn more because they have other blogs to source income from, even if they have less ads and less page views on their main blogs. :) The computation really is complicated, and we tried hard as we could to provide an estimate based on the ads seen on their blogs.
