For someone who used to be from QC, officemates found it blasphemous when I said I hadn't tried Mister Kabab at West Ave. yet. So off we went last Friday to initiate me to this legendary, cheap yet delicious resto.
You can't miss it with its ginormous MISTER KABAB sign and what I call stripper lights. No aircon but the windows are big enough and the ceilings high enough that you'll sweat only when you eat something spicy.
There are a lot of tables but you may have to wait for a while because the place really gets packed even in the wee hours of the morning. Oh yeah, Mister Kabab is open 24 hours.
We had two orders of keema, one shawarma on a plate and hommus. The keema was tender, tasty and a complete winner with the garlic sauce. The officemate/friend who initiated me to Mister Kabab said she only ordered the shawarma on a plate for the sidings: chopped tomatoes, onion and cucumber (if I'm not mistaken). Truth be told, I can be happy with just the garlic sauce.
We had pita with our meat. It was all so filling that I couldn't finish my two orders of pita. I only ate a little of the hommus; I've never been a fan of the stuff.
For drinks, I ordered the highly-recommended yogurt shake. It's just P40, can you believe it? Officemate/friend said it's cheap because the yogurt shake is homemade. It was really good and it went well with the keema.
I wanted to try their desserts but I was too full. Our bill, which came after 10 years, was surprisingly cheap considering we ate so much and still had leftovers. Just about P300 for the three of us.
I live far south now so Mister Kabab is too far away but I will definitely come back to try their other dishes.
We want to know what you think. Share your most recent unforgettable dining experiences with SPOT.ph!
