Character, says Heraclitus, is fate. Character might also be manifest in the physical. Did you ever notice how Sen. Noynoy Aquino walks? He slouches, he droops, flails his arms like jerky pendulums, and with bow legs that seem to move to opposite directions. It is the kind of gait not conventionally associated with strength, pride, and leadership. More like Shaggy of Scooby Doo.
I should be the last person in the world to speak about posture, but compare that to his father's gait. I would think twice about voting for someone who seems to allow himself to be verbally bullied around and humiliated by his youngest sister.
The youngest sister, for whom no barrier exists between the public's right to know and her private life, including her baby's toilet habits. The youngest sister, who has mastered the fine verbal art of too-much-information, her cerebral cortex directly connected to her mouth. The youngest sister, who if we go by her own words, should be the one running for president. After all she herself announced that she was "a young Ninoy" and her mother's favorite–at a time when the entire nation was in the thralls of grief. Unfortunately (or fortunately), she has several more years to go before she turns 40, the minimum age to run. But what she lacks in qualification for candidacy, she makes up for in candor. Excessive amounts of it.
The youngest sister, whose patent tactlessness has now become a recognized part of Philippine daily life. Our lives would be empty without hearing her say something that sounds like nails across a blackboard. The scary part about her is how media seems to have a disturbing dependence on her every opinion when it comes to any subject that involves the "Aquino" name. Rioting farmers shot to death at Hacienda Luisita? Interview Kris. Stock market crashed? Malacanang razed to the ground? Three passenger planes collide? Interview Kris. And she'll even tell you about the Starbucks machiatto she drank. She's like a car accident on SLEX–it's horrible but you can't look away.

Lourd really pwned kris with this piece. hehe. lourd should have his own talk show or something. :D
i couldn't help but cringe while watching kris aquino embarrass sen noynoy on national tv. deep inside me, i kept saying "shut up you stupid woman, you're such a disgrace". Lourd, you nailed it!
lourd, you are the man... if only our so called writers would think and write like you...
spot on, lourd. i am one of those who found renewed hope when noynoy announced his bid for the presidency. but i can't seem to commit to voting or campaigning for him. my problem with noynoy is kris. if he can't control his sister, how can you expect him to run an entire country? there's still time though to change the dynamics between the two. more importantly, there is still hope. mabuhay ka, kababayan.
Bold article. You said everything that none of us would dare write, especially with the fear of Kris Aquino nagging us to death.
Like what I said before: Noynoy has no balls. He is his youngest sister's doormat.
bravo!
bulls'-eye!
Having Kris as a sister is like a double-edged sword, you have the sister who gives you demoralizing/embarrassing unsolicited advice on national TV and then you have the sister who’s a much known public figure and based on surveys would be the most credible endorser come the May 2010 elections. Since Noynoy could not consider Lourd’s unsolicited advice yet, he must step out of the shadow of Kris and what another poster said stop being her dormant. He must really work on his speeches like what his father did back in the day when everybody was hanging on every word, even having half of that would be fine. …I stumbled upon an article that reads, Randy David noticed that Noynoy answes more smartly than Mar Roxas when asked questions regarding current issues in our country. I think there’s a big potential in Noynoy that just needs to be tapped.
Why Noy needs Kris anyway-- 1. Kris public emasculation of Noy portrays him as a public official who is so honest he cannot even afford to pay for his wedding or to refurbish his home. 2. Pinoys like an underdog. The more she embarrasses him, the more we want to take his side. 3. We want Noy to win so he can finally put Kris in her place. But please do not exile her to Africa. If she decided to support Robert Mugabe, he would really be a dictator for-a-lifetime
Kris is really a handful. I agree to everything that you will say to her. But here's the thing, I will let everything that she does slide because of what her Parents gave and sacrificed to us Filipinos!!! For as long as she is not violating any laws, she can say or do whatever that she wants!!!
i couldn't stop laughing while reading this piece! this is sooo HILLARIOUS!! i just hope that kris will read this interesting article. i'm glad that lourd wrote this very BOLD article abt. that girl so that she'll realize that she needs to STOP CONTROLLING her big brother who is by the way....a senator & a presidential aspirant in next year's election. poor guy....
I have always admired Kris for her honesty, straighforwardness and for being so brutally frank. She's in a class all by herself and I wish to see her tribe increase. I first met her when she was only seven years old campaigning for Ninoy when I was still a freshman student at DLSAU. The second time I saw her was after Cory became President at her first TV appearance on Inday Badiday's See-Tru on GMA7. Her interview by Ate Luds on that show remains the highest rated show in the history of Philippine television, garnering 80+ ratings. She was a big hit among the viewers because of her intelligence and eloquence which she showed many times on and off the camera. No doubt that she's going to play a truly major role in Noynoy's bid for the presidency because of her prominence due to numerous endorsements, talk shows, and game shows. In the April 2009 issue of Yes! Magazine she was cited as the second most powerful celebrity in the Philippines. She closed several multi-million peso endorsement deals and some people might be asking why? People in the business as well as advertisers will tell you that the “public” wants someone who tells the truth and is real. And that is what Kris Aquino is all about.
if/when noynoy becomes president, i'd rather have a kris meddling in the palasyo rather than a mike or a ben or a lito or a... that being said, i still can't stand her ;-)
ay naku, inggit lang kayo kay Kris..
you should be thankful of kris..why..kumikita kayo sa pagsulat ng di maganda kay kris..kung iba ang isulat ninyo wala babasa ng mga news niyo..
beej Please elaborate on your comment. You would rather that Noynoy Aquino's sister meddle in politics than his hypothetical gay partner? Ignoring that we do not know the sexuality of Noynoy, please explain why it is better that Kris meddle in palace affairs rather than whom ever Noynoy chooses as his life partner, male or female. Jon-jon
I back up every single word on this piece. EVERY SINGLE WORD. The greatest tragedy of our country is that we know more about Kris Aquino's thoughts than Lourd de Veyra's.
@Jon-jon ..I think what beej is trying to say is He/she would rather have Kris staying in Malacanang rather than having Mike Arroyo, Ben Abalos or Lito Atienza who are currently in Gloria's administration, it doesn't imply that Noynoy's gay lol!!!!!
i thought i was the only one who's sick of her...haha nice article ma man! you hit her straight to the jugular. Sweet!
