10 Cheesy Political TV Ads

Published: Nov 17, 2009 - 8:00am

5. Michael "Mike" Defensor

'Tol made us LOL. Mike Defensor tried to endear himself to the public with endorsements from Manny Pacquiao's impersonator, Pokyaw, as well as Ai-Ai delas Alas, Keanna Reeves, Erik Santos and Mariel Rodriguez, but failed to get a senatorial slot in 2007.

Defensor is now eyeing the Quezon City mayoral position. Maybe he should ask for an endorsement from Pacquiao himself this time.

6. Loren Legarda

From "Loren Loren Sinta" in 1998, she turned to Ariel Rivera's "Tunay na Ligaya" for the 2007 senatorial election, in which she ended up #1. We wonder how Ariel Rivera feels about his love song being turned into an ode to narcissism with these lyrics: "Iisa lang ang hinihintay niyong kasagutan/Sa senado'y muling makapiling siya/Siya lang ang tunay na pag-asa/Tanging si Loren lang/Kung sa sipag at talino lang naman/Tanging si Loren lang."

Legarda recently announced her candidacy for vice president in 2010. Which song is she going to use next?

    Ang pinaka-cheesy na political ad e walang iba kundi yung kay Escudero, puro CHIZ e!

    Seriously, these politicians are trying to outdo each other in coming up with the cheesiest ads. A lot of people would find Mar's "Padyak" ad the most cheesy, but it's the ad, I believe, with the MOST recall. When it came out, people were talking about it. And months after it stopped airing people are still talking about it! I mean, who talks about Gibo's TV ads?

    The other TV ad people are talking about is that of Noynoy's. "Ang daming artista, huh!"

    Another is that of Manny Villar's because of its frequency. "Ang mahal siguro ng airtime na binayaran nun!"

    Election period in the Philippines is the mother of all popularity contests. With contestants, err candidates, promising almost the same things, it's the name of the candidate on top of people's minds that gets written on the ballot first.

    @Iya

    grabe kailangan ba talagang i-judge at i-debase si Kris? Huwag ka ngang ganyan. Matalino at mabuting tao yun. At kailan pa naging basehan ang ganyang bagay sa pagpili ng presidente? Eh tinitingalaan ng mga pinoy mga artista eh so may karapatan at tungkulin din silang suportahan ang sa tingin nilang nararapat na manalo. Hindi naman LAHAT ng artistang kaibigan ni Kris nandun ah. Konti nga yun kumpara sa dami ng artista.

    The point is, BAWAL PA MAGKAMPANYA. Puro lang naman informercial ang nandyan so star power is not inevitable.

    pinaka cheesy talaga yung kay mar. sobrang plastic pa. no wonder mababa sya sa ratings. kaya nagkasya na lang sa pagtakbo na vice president.
    yung iba dyan wag na daanin sa dami ng artista. di naman sila manunungkulan. puro endorsement. si kris talaga di magpapatalo.lagi na lang sya bida. pano na pag nanalo kapatid nya. presidential adviser siguro sya.
    pano na kaya pilipinas nun?
