With 350 million users, Facebook was undoubtedly one of the most popular websites of 2009. But it's a whole new decade, and there's a whole new slew of sites popping up all over the Web. Which ones are worth checking out? SPOT.ph did some browsing:
(Roll your mouse over the graphics)
What is it? Currently the most popular social networking site in the world, Facebook offers a breadth of features–from games such as FarmVille and Restaurant City, to photo sharing, real time chatting, and status updating. The website has turned into such a vast virtual community that sometimes even real life is based on Facebook updates: "Is it Facebook official, yet?"
The users: Almost anybody with access to the Internet
2010 forecast: With more users migrating from Friendster and Multiply everyday, Facebook will only gain more users.
Verdict: WIN!
What is it? It is the mother of all social-networking sites in Asia which sparked the terms like "I-friend mo 'ko!" or "Testi ko, ha?" It allows people to add fellow users as friends, letting them interact and express themselves online through various means provided by the site.
The users: Since its conception in 2003, Friendster has become overrun with pre-teens wanting to hook up and die-hard fans pretending to be their "id0lz."
2010 Forecast: Late last year, the re-launched site introduced a new look and promised a lot of goodies for current users. This year, we predict that it's still going to be the same old Friendster with the subtle difference of a new look and the promise of a lot of goodies.
Verdict: DRAW

I choose Facebook and Multiply i already abandoned friendster it's lack everything and i hate it's new format and layout the color scheme hurt's my eyes, i think they should bring back the old logo. i also use twitter and it's synchronize with my facebook and zannel account.
Ang ganda ng artwork! :)
Facebook is really a winner. I'm a self-confessed facebook addict. I rarely visit my friendster account now. I love the drawings. Looks like cousins to the Gorillaz. ;-)
facebook has literally brought me real life benefits!
Sa tingin ko lang, mas maraming mangyayari sa social life ninyo kung NAGLALALABAS kayo imbes na nakatitig kayo sa computer ninyo buong araw! LOL!
i think freindster lost large chunk of their visitors everyday, me, myself rarely open my FS account since they change friendster's layout and format (horrible). My bet is facebook i believed it will attract more people this year...
Plurk doesn't need celebrities. The Plurk community as you don't know is very tight. There are many Plurk EBs here and there. Mas maraming at home sa Plurk na shempre, hindi nakikita ng mga tao since Twitter lang ang alam nila. Plurk might lose on the number of celebrities using the app, but it's the bond between plurkers that really matters.
I agree with scorched. I have both Plurk and Twitter accounts, and I find logging in to Plurk more often. Although the horizontal timeline is not user-friendly, Plurk for me is more interactive. My fellow plurkers and I actually hold discussions there.
Feeling ko what Plurk needs is a layout upgrade. Celebs okay lang, pero mamatay din yan. Kaunti ng users eh.
May plurk ka ba?
That's a LOL. I have both Plurk and Twitter; my Twitter is actually just a feed from my Plurk account. Both serve their own separate functions. I usually conduct my microblogging on Plurk because I enjoy the thread feature; there are plurks that get up to 300 replies, even, just like a forum thread. It's a good place to conduct a conversation or an intelligent discussion, which cannot be done on Twitter because I don't like to have to hunt for the answers to my tweets in several different places. I just go on Twitter whenever there's a hot issue I'd like to follow, or if something needs to be disseminated quickly. Afterwards, the post-mortem discussions and dissections of the fine points of the issue takes place on Plurk. But abandon Plurk for Twitter... puh-leeze. And allow my karma to drop? No way.
Plurk is far better than Twitter! It\'s just a matter of time. On Twitter you cannot follow conversation properly and there\'s ads and spam everywhere. Plurk FTW!
And comparing Multiply with DevaintART just doesn't make sense =D
uhhhh... are you stupid? @Jon hindi naman kasi compare at contrast di ba? halata naman na walang konek ang robot sa looklet at ang multiply sa deviantart.
@Metal Apparently you don't know how many people have Plurk accounts... maybe because you only have Twitter? And Twitter is mainstream? :D And how would you know that there are few users of Plurk? Do you have an account?
I use plurk everyday but not as often as I use facebook. Plurk for me is more intuitive than twitter, as to twitter is just a regular status update. I say plurk is win, because it has more features. Although their home/search/main page is fail.
