Tutoong mahirap si Villar...nuon yon. Paano siya naging $530 million USD worth in less than 30 years. Sabi nga ni Akong, all the dots do not connect and add up.

An American colleague of mine wondered why despite the positive characteristics of Pinoys the country remains poor. Wonder no more Bill: we Pinoys sell our votes to the highest bidder. We have no shame. We deserve who/what we have.

Money Villaroyo will win - he who has the most money to buy our votes. The next time anyone asks why the Phil is still poor, I'll refer them to Willie Revillame, Dolphy, Michael V, Annabel Rama, Gibert Remulla (and the list goes on..

if you have to exert THAT much effort to convince everyone that you were once poor....then something is wrong somewhere...*rolls eyes*

Manny, You're insulting the intelligence of the masa. With all the millions you got I find it laughable and hypocritical to declare yourself "dirt" poor growing up. It would have been a lot better if you had declare that you came from a "humble" beginning. It's true your parents were not "filthy" rich but they're not "dirt" poor either.

Someone told me that there was NO smokey mountain in 1962 or earlier than that. Please correct your statement that " we used to live right next to (what is now!) smokey mountain" when there was no smokey mountain back then. Shame! shame! shame!

Nobody owes you an apology. You and your party owes the masa a HUGE apology. Start now, while there is still time before the election. I might be able to accept and forgive you, boy!

Liar, liar pants caught on fire!

At GANON SI VILLAR.

VILLAR dropped 4 points already in the latest Pulse Asia survey.

The truth sank already in the minds of the CDE segment. Sa wakas. Across ABCDE, he never made it to the top.
  • Gil.A Apr 06 2010 @ 08:24am Report Abuse
I believe that Villar is poor as what he said. He has a poor memory that he always forgot what he had said during the interview. Thus some of his answer does not coincide with the previous statement.

What were the "distortions", Senator Money?

"During an emergency case, you go to the nearest hospital and bother later where to get the money to pay the bill", after stating that Danny was admitted into the "charity ward" of FEU Hospital.

Laki ako sa Maynila, Senator Money. The nearest hospitals to your North Balut digs were: Sta. Rita Hospital in Gagalangin, owned by the Albanos, Emmanuel Hospital, a Protestant-owned and run hospital on Jose Abad Santos (then Reina Regente) in Tondo, or Mary Johnston (also with a charity ward, and where Joseph Estrada was born, fronting the parochial school young Manny attended since Grade One), and even San Lazaro Hospital (a government-owned free hospital near Tayuman and Avenida Rizal). These are nearer to Balut or Navotas than FEU Hospital. And all these were far cheaper than FEU. There is another hospital nearer, UST Hospital, which costs about the same as FEU.

"Squatters", Mr. Senator? Your parents rented that small house in Moriones. So cut the crap, please.

"My father was forced to borrow money and build our own home. Now they’re saying we are not poor…" he said. No sir, we did not say you were never poor. Maybe you were. But the truth is your parents sacrificed a lot, and worked hard to give you and your siblings a better life. The truth is, even before your brother Danny died, even when you entered school, you were already much better off. Your father, Manuel Sr. was a budget officer of DANR, later divided in two, and he became part of the DENR, eventually becoming the confidante and financial officer of then DENR Minister Jose Leido Jr. Pretty well-placed and cushy, indeed.

Your father did obtain a loan from the GSIS, for 16,000 pesos to build the house, which was not a small amount in those days. He bought a 560-square meter lot in San Rafael which at the time, cost 30 pesos per square meter, or 16.800. Who were your neighbours? Well, the following big names in Philippine industry lived in that vicinity: the late Yao Eng Hue, once president of the Federation of Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, at the time owner of Manhattan Rubber, which produced rubber slippers; Robin Sy, also a former president of FFCCCI; Dante Go, who used to own Sugarland and sold it in 1999 to Ramon Ang for a cool billion; even the family of Wilson and William Tieng of Solar Films and Solar TV. Their father was one of the biggest glassware and kitchen equipment dealers in Echague, Quiapo, in league with the late Leonardo Ty of Hitachi and Ajinomoto. Even William Gatchalian had property in the vicinity. My own grand-uncle used to have a clothing factory nearby, called La Navotena at the foot of the bridge along North Balut. The area is beside what is now Westminster High School, a Chinese-Filipino school.

You want the Liberals and your main political opponent to "apologize" for what they did to your reputation. Firstly, it was neither the Liberals nor Noynoy who told the truth surrounding the death of your brother which you yourself brought to public attention through expensive advertisements. It was the collective work of columnists whose responsibility it is to tell the truth, and shared their information with each other, especially since it concerns someone who wants to be president.

And once again, apologize to the public who you fool with your ads proclaiming your "opposition" to a hated regime which now turns out to be your chief sponsor to succeed its misrule and its corrupt governance.

Kopyador pa si VILLAR. Ginaya ang Upside Down Ad ng Argentinian political candidate named Lopez Murphy. Kopyang kopya. Bukong buko.

They're more concern about their citizens, and they wanted to be known as a progressive country na kayang makipagsabayan sa mauunlad na bansa khit pa iba ang relihiyon nila. E tayo? OLATS! masakit sabihin pero minsan nakakahiya.

He's just banking on the poor to get many votes, unfortunately many of the poor is clouded with belief on surveys and TV ads. someone or many of us wise voters must really educate them on what's really going on, not many of the poor sector of voters have access to the internet. what we can do is promote to them every "candidate forums" conducted by Big Networks such as GMA7 and ABSCBN on TV and Radio, so they can better know who had the most leadership skill we need.

Every President told us that they are for the poor. From Mambo Magsaysay to Macapagal (poor man from Lubao but lived in Forbes Park) to Marcos to Cory to Ramos to Erap (para sa mahihirap) to GMA.

The result? Dumami lalo ang mahihirap (backed up by statistics) in spite of their pronouncements that they were pro-poor.

why do you have to flaunt that you are poor during the campaign period? It's very obvious he is just using the poor to win the presidency. SHAME OF YOU MANNY VILLAROYO.

My prof. said Manny's mother is a wholesaler and his father is a superintendent..

you don't have to state to the entire Philippines that you are poor before or something..because what really matters are the capabilities and strength that the citizens long for.

Estrada’s many shortcomings mattered little to the millions who know no secrets can really be hidden from one’s neighbors in the slums, where the intimate is public. So long as false piety— hypocrisy—is avoided, then it is better to be flawed but genuine than to be an artificial construct. Even if there’s an obvious element of roguery, even chicanery, in the Erap myth it’s all conducted with a wink and a sly grin—everyone’s in on the act.

Which makes the Villar schtick not just pretense but an outright fraud, and objectionable to those millions for whom money isn’t evil so long as gallantly dispensed without condescension.

At the heart of Villar’s problems is his billions being unable to erase the insult he presents to the intelligence of the very voters he claims to have come from, and understands.

@ GWVMT, I did not feel any bashing of the Catholic Church. It was a statement of fact about hypocrisy in this country.

You should be the one bashed for your Avenue Q hangover.

Poor Manny, with all this "mahirap" shtick, it might get him the presidency. Remember, we Pinoys love the underdog, success stories and the "naaapi".

Just like the C5 issue, Villar's responses have been illuminating.

On March 30 on ANC’s “Dateline” program with Pia Hontiveros and Tony Velasquez, senatorial candidate and Nacionalista spokesman Gilbert Remulla said that the Villars were able to pay the hospital bills because Manuel Villar Sr. borrowed funds from an uncle.

On the same day, in an ambush interview on “TV Patrol,” Villar himself said that his brother’s medical bills were paid for by means of a female cousin of his father, named Nelly Cruz, who lent them money.

On March 31, in an 8:30 p.m. dzMM interview with Alvin Elchico and Lynda Jumilla, the story evolved further: Villar now said that his family brought his brother to FEU hospital because they had a relative who worked there as a nurse, and who could help them with discounts. Add to this Villar’s explanation that while his brother did get admitted to FEU, he was brought in as a charity ward patient.

It is very much alike with the National Artist issue last year. Carlo J. Caparas went out with the media, showing and insisting that he can REALLY DRAW. Thus making a "valid" reason on why he won the award. And further saying that the "elite" artists hate him because he came from the masses.

Kailangan pa ba talagang patunayan at ipagdiinan na naging mahirap ka? Does that notion make Mr. Villar a VERY competent candidate?
  • Juan Apr 05 2010 @ 01:41am Report Abuse
