Top 10 Things You May Not Know About Noynoy Aquino

Published: Jun 3, 2010 - 8:54am

noynoy-kidFor starters, Benigno Simeon "Noynoy" Cojuangco Aquino III has quite a legacy to live up to. It's part of the package when your dad's a hero and your mom's a revered leader. Things get even more complicated when it looks like you're going to be part of Philippine history yourself. On top of that, a lot of people get on your case because you're not cute, you can't quit smoking, and you haven't gotten around to getting married yet.

Despite the pressure and the pettiness he has to deal with, Noynoy has managed to stay relatively calm. No public meltdowns from this Aquino.

In any case, there are still many things about Noynoy that we don't know. Never mind the big, scary stuff–his politics, his allies, his future Cabinet members–SPOT.ph lists 10 interesting tidbits about the man who would be president.

1. He likes sneaking off. In a Probe Profiles interview with TV journalist Cheche Lazaro, Noynoy disclosed that he used to have lone "escapades" when his mother was president. "May mga times tumatakas ako," he said. Apparently, he would wait for everyone to fall asleep and then he would go off to take long drives. He revealed, "Umaabot ako ng Tarlac." What are the chances of him still being able to do that when he's already president?

2. Bananas saved his life. When Noynoy was just a little over a year old, he got sick and could not retain any food. Already on dextrose, one of his dad's friends even said that that particular night would have been Noynoy's last. Fortunately, they thought about feeding him bananas. So he lived. It makes so much sense that he would be saved by a yellow fruit.

    Puro kayo batikos. E walang magagawa, ganon talaga, lumaban e. May mananalo talaga.

Mas mayaman na ulit ako after a month.

    sobrang gagaling nyong lahat... bakit hindi na lang kaya kayo maging presidente... puro kayo batikos.. feeling nyo naman you are all so damn good.... pupusta ako.. wala din kayong alam... put yourselves in their places... dang, hindi importante kung may nagawa syang batas.. ang importante optimistic ang lahat, at naitaas ang pagtitiwala sa gobyerno... ang importante ung magagawa nya bilang presidente.. hindi bilang senator...

    2. Pareho kayong walang sense kapag may sinasabi.

  • auxinn Jul 09 2010 @ 12:40am Report Abuse
    sa mga bumoto...kung nde pareho sa opinion nio ang opinion ng iba...respect nalang and deal with it. this is a free country..we have the right na sabihin ang opinion namin.

    it's not our fault kung madaming masasabing nde maganda sa sinuportahan nio. at expect nio na madaming nde bibilib sa kania kase MAS MADAMI ang nde bumoto sa kania.

    si Noy naman..wala talaga akong bilib sa kania at mukhang ang taong nagluklok sa kania ay mga taong magpapababa din sa kania kapag narealize nilang mali ang binoto nila kase he is a spoiled brat and kulang sa kaalaman. pathetic and very embarassing.

    After all that been said and done. Just support the president the least we could do. Now say something that needed to be change for me . Just want gossip monger be made liable to every drop of saliva they spit out. These are the pest of society. Make everyone be responsible to all they speak of. Freedom of speech need not be a pig pen. Let all whose speak without being able to substantiate their views be put to jail. Good for the people. One lest pesky one down the drain. go go go.
  • Pinoy Ako Jun 14 2010 @ 03:31am Report Abuse
    Whether YOU voted for him or not is irrelevant at this point. HE IS THE PRESIDENT of OUR COUNTRY and at this point in our history and for the sake of the future generation..we owe it to them to make sure, that he succeeds in his job as president, otherwise we are all doomed.
  • onwardbound Jun 09 2010 @ 09:10pm Report Abuse
    there you go. More of the same people who read up and join every article, thread and discussion (even become a fan of noy on FB) just to post regurgitated
    pre-election propaganda against Noy... such fanatics they all are.

    I\\\\\\\'d call your [read: L-o-s-i-n-g] pres. wannabes crude names, but that\\\\\\\'d just be pointless.
  • Tita Aida Jun 09 2010 @ 03:45am Report Abuse
    This is now a fait accompli. He is now the President of the Republic of the Philippines. It is purely speculative that one could have been better or worse than Noynoy.

    Let us watch his performance as President. After the first 100 days and after the first SONA, then let our views be heard.
  • professor.oak Jun 08 2010 @ 04:00pm Report Abuse
    There could have been a better one than Noy. I just hope that he does perform well, unlike what he did when he was a legislator.
  • Seth Jun 07 2010 @ 08:56pm Report Abuse
    I think zombie-buster is one of those people who still voted for ERAP!

  • 21k Jun 07 2010 @ 06:59pm Report Abuse
    @zombie-buster

    i hope your drowning in your own arrogance as it surpasses the amount of rainfall Ondoy brought upon us all.
In my opinion, that’s so wrong! The best thing that we can do is hope that our new president will do better than GMA. Hindi pa naman sya nagsisimula, let’s all give him a chance. Let’s all be positive, wala naman maitutulong ang pagiging negative ng mga tao.
  • angel Jun 07 2010 @ 10:55am Report Abuse
  • zombie-buster Jun 07 2010 @ 01:27am Report Abuse
    @objectivity

    personally, i cant help but belittle those abnoy supporters. especially sa mga taong pwede namang mag-isip. sayang lang ung utak na pinagkaloob ng Diyos sa tin. kalokohan kung puro tayo puso. look at us now and the results of heart-based choices.

    sorry. talagang nabobobohan ako sa mga bumoto kay abnoy. mas may utak pa mga bumoto kay erap.

    @jasogrimes: tamad kasi yang bata mo kaya walang naipasang batas. irarason mo sa publiko, na marami ng batas masyado? sabi nga, kung gusto maraming paraan. kung ayaw o tinatamad, maraming dahilan.

    leg·is·late - Pronunciation: le-jəs-lāt: to perform the function of legislation; specifically to make or enact laws

    i guess, a legislator in our country does something else, eh? hahaha
  • lila Jun 05 2010 @ 12:15am Report Abuse
    @jasongrimes

    so, what does a legislator do? please enlighten us.
  • jasongrimes Jun 04 2010 @ 01:58pm Report Abuse
    It is wrong to say that he has not filed any bill because that is wrong. He did filed some bill, quite a lot of them. Di lang naging batas.

    But a legislators job should not be judged only on how many bills he passed because that does not take into account what are the other things that a legislator do. Becuase if that is the only basis, then we should give Lito Lapid flying colors.

    You should also place an emphasis on his participation in the debates, his voting record and how he also "fiscalized" the budget that Malacanang submitted.
  • Showbiz Jun 04 2010 @ 11:10am Report Abuse
    @ninja,

    Your hunch may have some basis. According to my mole at the hacienda,ahhhhh never mind, It might put us in hot water!

    I love it! "Yellow fruit!" Who is the writer? So witty!

    Maybe there is something else we do not yet know. Could that reason be why he is a bachelor, why he admires Boy Abunda and Dingdong Dantes so much he wishes to appoint them in government? Oh, I'm just being nasty.

    @Hi, he did not even principally author any bill. Worst performing. Look it up. You mean you voted for him thinking he is an achiever? Too late.
  • sadohaqatar Jun 03 2010 @ 08:05pm Report Abuse
    why do we always have this crab mentality even with educated people? i can't blame somebody from being pessimistic about noy's presidency but such attitude is best kept to ourselves and give 'change' a chance because that is all we can do right now. am sure nobody would like to stick with gma who's a real pain in the *ss thick face hobbit with a devil smirk always on her face, would we?

    i expect spot.ph readers to have a wider understanding and instead spread hope and positive vibes.

    no wonder our country is hasty and squandering!
  • REMIE Jun 03 2010 @ 06:34pm Report Abuse
    let us give NOY a chance to prove himself when he is proclaimed President this June 2010.
  • flip Jun 03 2010 @ 05:55pm Report Abuse
  • objectivity Jun 03 2010 @ 05:23pm Report Abuse
  • meow Jun 03 2010 @ 04:57pm Report Abuse
    its a free country.. so pede nya nmn cgro sbhin kung ano opinion nya.. That's why he said that hopefully, you guys won't be disappointed kung ano man ang magiging performance nya..

    and I think that the Internet is a good way to voice out your opinions..especially for people like us na hindi naman na-dyadyaryo ang mga opinion, but still want to say what is on our mind about things like this.

    >_< peace!
  • anonymous Jun 03 2010 @ 04:36pm Report Abuse
    It's okay to know facts but don't take it as a serious joke. Facts are true. Like in these facts true lahat yan. You can see it naman Noy's personality.

    Noy did not win because of facts. He won because of his abilities.

    @koko, a little respect to the ones who voted for Noy. My family supported Noynoy and if they are reding this, they were offended with your statement(including me). My family and I supported
    him all the way. It is not the Internet where you can say all of your opinions but you can keep in yourself instead(especially if you want it keep it a secret).
  • koko Jun 03 2010 @ 04:04pm Report Abuse
    i did not vote for him during the elections because i didn't see the leadership potential in him. sana lang hindi mapahiya ang mga bumoto sa kanya at naniwala sa tuwid na daan na hindi pa nagsisimula ay mukhang papaliko na.
  • Me Jun 03 2010 @ 03:12pm Report Abuse
    tama tama... i'm wondering what good he can do for the country... eh kung yung problema nga sa Luisita hindi nila maayos.. pano pa yung problema sa buong Pilipinas... sus..
  • Ho Jun 03 2010 @ 02:09pm Report Abuse
    @hi,

    You mean hindi mo alam? where were you during the KAMPANYA? di ba iyan ang sinasabi ni Dick Gordon laban sa kanya? mabuti pa daw si Senator Lapid merong naipasa! mag-review ka ng current events mo at hindi puro facebook lang!
  • hi Jun 03 2010 @ 12:39pm Report Abuse
    Noynoy hasn't passed a single bill?
  • hello Jun 03 2010 @ 10:49am Report Abuse
    you forgot to mention na in all of the years being a senator (more than a decade) he hasn't passed a single bill yet he was tagged as one of the house biggest budget spender

    wait... i guess everyone knows that
