They now serve rice. BUT, their rice costs P65 a cup. We didn't know that until we got our bill. It was our usual family bonding weekend when we decided to try this diner out. We were enticed not by the availability of rice but with their unlimited fries promo.
Everything on the menu was expensive, from the milkshakes to the burgers. We had a hard time deciding which ones to try out first. I thought that with their quite expensive rates, their food was good enough for sharing or so we thought.
We had their Original Burger served with unlimited fries (P285) and Rocket Wings (P385) and bottomless drink (P110). We asked the server how many were the Rocket Wings per order and she said eight wings. For P385, we thought it to be okay and reasonable. However, when it arrived on our table, I was a bit surprised to see how "bitin" the serving was–there were just four whole wings and each wing was cut into two, which made each order eight pieces.
In all fairness, the burger I had was delicious and juicy but I still wouldn't rate it better than that of Chili's. It wasn't as big as I was expecting it to be, either. My wife just had one bite of the burger just to taste it, since we both knew just by looking at it that I could finish it in an instant. The unlimited fries and bottomless soda and iced tea, in a way, compensated for the shock we received when we got the bill: P898.
Probably, another consolation we, the diners, get there is the entertainment they provide. Their servers will entertain you with their grooves, with music courtesy of their jukebox. My little kid enjoyed watching them.
I suggest that they lower their rates a bit. I mean, c'mon, Johnny Rockets is a diner and it's just like a glamorized fast food chain. They have the same price range as Chili's and Friday's, yet these two have better ambiance. At this point, I don't think we would go back here.
