The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced the suspension of the number coding scheme on July 26, reports ABS-CBNNews.com. According to a press release, MMDA Chairman Oscar Inocentes said the suspension was done to allow "unimpeded travel" for people who will watch the first State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Noynoy Aquino at the House of Representatives in Quezon City.
July 26 is an ordinary working day, according to presidential spokesman Edwin Lacierda.

to average juan Jul 26 2010 @ 11:18am Report Abusei don't believe they should introduce another program that would make people sacrifice. what they should do is introduce a program that is effective enough and won't require any of us to sacrifice. they keep on introducing new (sometimes futile) programs but they can't even enforce the simple and regular traffic rules that we have - PUV's that carelessly load and unload passengers anywhere, just to name one. those corrupt enforcers are just using this coding scheme as a method to extort money from people.

The new MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino of Tagaytay is a good choice. Watch for the formal announcement.

The number coding scheme is a pro-rich program by the gov't.
The average guy, like me, who only owns 1 car is affected by this scheme.
The rich ones, like in Noynoy's circle, will always have a spare car so they don't mind.
The poor (who doesn't own a car) is not really affected since we have an oversupply of public transport even if that sector is affected by the scheme.
They should introduce a program that will make everybody sacrifice. -
The suspension doesn't make any sense to me. The goal should be to lessen the number of vehicles on the street that day. Wait, why is that foolish Inocentes still there at MMDA?
