Top 10 Pinoy Political Mother-and-Son Tandems
In our political dynasty-infested country, do mothers still know best? Or do the sons have the edge?

Nikki Coseteng exclusive interview posted by YouTube user jhase21

Mom-and-son stats: Anna Dominique “Nikki” Coseteng served as a senator and a congresswoman. Julian is now a Quezon City councilor. It is not clear if Nikki is just taking a break from politics or if she has kissed it goodbye.

Political verdict: The mom and son are pretty tight. In fact, the son recently tried to have his
birth name changed in favor of the mom’s last name
. As for political clout, these two still have
some—just not in Cory-Noynoy magnitude.

Pangasinan 6th District Board Member Ranjit Ramos-Shahani on jueteng issues. Video by The Observer

Mom-and-son stats: Letty Ramos Shahani, sister of former President Fidel Ramos, was a
senator from 1992 to 1998. Ranjit Shahani served as congressman of Pangasinan. Both are no
longer active in politics, but we thought they’re a nice blast-from-the-past pair.

Political verdict: Perhaps, both mom and son realized that life in politics was more trouble than
it’s worth?

  • proud to be mama's boy
@surg702rnAs what I've said, we Pinoys always dwell with the bad connotation of being a mama's boy. There's always bad side and good side in anything but can't we think of the positive side. Not all mama's boy gives PROBLEM to their family. Two things that is not worth of being a mama's boy is becoming lazy and dependent (as what you have said). Be an optimist not pessimist dude.

@ proud to be mama's boyrnrnListen, a mama's boy is a grown man who is old enough to be on his own and should have a job but still live with his parents and when you bring problems at home mommy takes your side. Problem children isrnone reason for family breakdown and parents separation. @ mama's boy, if you are what I have described, you should be ashamed of yourself.

@nelia sanchezrnWhat do u mean by The Pinoy Mama's Boy Syndrome. Why we Filipinos give bad connotation when we say Mama's Boy? Why can't we be proud to claim it? Don't you think that being one, gives an assurance that you had raised by your mom to become a good citizens of this country. As the saying goes "Mother's know best".rnrnAdvance Happy Mother's Day to All Moms out there
