(SPOT.ph) Pulp rocked the metro recently as it brought together foreign and Pinoy bands in "Pulp Summer Slam XI: Resurrection." Over 35,000 fans flocked to the Amoranto Stadium in Quezon City to see headliner acts Death Angel, Hellyeah and Anthrax.

Filipino-American band Death Angel was no stranger to the Summer Slam stage, having headlined the event in its seventh year. Meanwhile, Hellyeah, which hails from Texas, was enthusiastic about performing for a Filipino audience for the first time.

One of the biggest heavy metal groups, New-York-based Anthrax is part of the metal world's Big Four, along with Metallica, Megadeth and Slayer. Drummer Charlie Benante said earlier in a Manila Bulletin report, "We haven't been to the Philippines and when the offer came up we just said yes right away."

GMA News Online reports, however, that the Summer Slam crowd had a mixed reaction to Anthrax's performance. While older fans enjoyed the set, younger concertgoers were "apathetic," prompting guitarist and founding member Scott Ian to call the crowd "f*cking weak."

Jimmy Guadalupe, host of RJ Underground 105.9's all-metal Slaughterhouse, said in a recent episode of the show, "Shame on you," referring to those whom he said "disrespected" Anthrax. "The bands you idolize today wouldn’t be where they are now if it weren’t for the likes of Anthrax. So how about showing some respect next time, guys?"

But Ian seemed much more appeased on Twitter after the show, saying, "Manila was sick. 35K at the show. Thank you so much!!!"

Though not among the headliner bands of Summer Slam, Dubai-based Nervecell was another special guest as their appearance marked the start of their Asian tour. Local bands who joined the rock fest include Razorback, Chicosci, Kamikazee, Urbandub and Imago.
