(SPOT.ph) The music world is a tough industry to be in, and that's especially true for independent artists and bands that are just starting out. Enter Sari-Sari Sounds, an online music station and lifestyle website whose main goal is to promote original Pinoy music online for the whole world to enjoy.
“I was exposed to great music back in college," shares Sari-Sari Sounds founder and musician Carlos Magno. "There were several awesome live acts but many of them folded, some even before cutting a decent record. Being in a band, I know the frustration of not being able to penetrate a bigger audience. It takes a lot of time, effort, and money to make music. For many, it's difficult to make it, or even just to break into the scene and gain recognition.” Magno said.
The frustration spawned Sari-Sari Sounds, essentially an all-OPM internet radio website, which aims to both celebrate and redefine Pinoy music. Similar to a radio station, it has a line-up of shows and DJs at helm. And just like a true sari-sari store, this online radio station has everything, from Pinoy rock and flip-hop and electronica, to jazz, reggae, ballads, and blues, among others.
“We have many world-class musicians and composers, young, edgy, and exciting artists who love what they do and struggle to pursue it. At the very least, we want their songs to be heard,” says Magno. He added, “music is a powerful gift, it brings us together, it communicates, inspires, it touches people, even changes them. We want everyone to know, love, and share OPM.”
