(SPOT.ph) This month, Resorts World Manila brings to the stage one of the world's all-time favorite musicals featuring an all-star cast of seasoned theater actors. The Sound of Music, the Tony-winning Richard Rodgers musical that spawned classics like "My Favorite Things," "Climb Ev'ry Mountain," "Edelweiss," "Do-Re-Mi," and "Sixteen Going on Seventeen" will be shown from October 15 to December 15 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Resorts World Manila.

Veteran actresses Joanna Ampil and Cris Villonco will alternate playing the role of Maria Rainer, the angel-voiced nun-turned-governess of the von Trapp family. Audie Gemora and Ed Feist portray Maria's love interest, the ironfisted Captain Georg von Trapp. "Uncle Max" will be played by Miguel Faustman and Robbie Guevarra, while Pinky Amador and Lynn Sherman take on the role of the captain's fiancée, Baroness Elsa Schraeder. Pinky Marquez and Sheila Francisco play Mother Abbess, the head of Maria's convent.

Atasha Muhlach, the daughter of veteran actor Aga Muhlach and beauty queen Charlene Gonzales, makes her acting debut as Brigitta von Trapp; the rest of the von Trapp children are played by Tanya Manalang and Rachel Coates (Liesl), Paolo Luis Ocampo, Luis Nieto (Friedrich), Danielle Sanghio, Rebecca Coates (Louisa), Janina Punzalan, Alessandra Allado (Brigitta), Roberto Sison, Anton Posadas, Justin Sian (Kurt), Alida Moberg, Paula Therese Zamesa, Sofia Yabyabin (Marta), Alexa Villarroel, and Shanti Gleason (Gretl).

Aside from the winning cast, the production also puts together a stellar creative team including director Roxanne Lapus, The Manila Philharmonic Orchestra led by Maestro Rodel Colmenar, vocal directress Lyn Fabella, designer Francis Libiran, scenographer Mio Infante, and video producer Paul Soriano.

For ticket reservations and inquiries, visit any TicketWorld outlet or the Resorts World Manila Box Office.

Watched The Sound of Music at the Resorts World. The show topples great veteran actors, great musical scoring and video design. Overall, the timeless masterpiece was badly executed due to bad direction. If your planning on watching it, better lower down your expectations.
