10 School Ghost Stories

Apo Española | Published: Oct 26, 2011 - 7:31am

If schools are our second homes, then we could just as well say we’ve all lived in haunted houses. Every school has a ghost story or two; that scary tales like these are so ubiquitous is a distinct mark of Pinoy culture. Through them we see the things we share as Pinoys: a burning curiosity for the supernatural, an almost-fearful awe of religion and, of course, a very human fear of death.

Just in time for Halloween, SPOT.ph compiled some of most haunting rumors set in schools across the metro, passed down from one generation of students to the next. These legendary stories, true or not, are sure to raise some goosebumps–and maybe even strike a few nostalgic nerves along the way.

Spooky stories they don't tell you about during orientation. Click for more.

I used to be so afraid of these ghosts when I was young! And since my parents knew of my ability to "see", they never told me, not until I was too scared of them that affected me so much as I never understood WHY I COULD ALL SEE THEM! "They come to me", so I thought every body could "see" what I could see! Dad even told me NEVER to tell anybody as they might think of me as a "loonie". Now at this stage of my life, I understood "them", I even help in their "transition" period! One cannot disregard their reality, as they are part of us and us to them! They have their "bodies" yes, but not the physical body like we, who are still alive and kicking! I wish I could write ghost story, but there are big responsibility in it! Happy ghost hunting, indeed!

Hi, I noticed that I was quoted in this article based on a UST Varsitarian story in 2006. CAN YOU PLEASE REMOVE THIS PART OF THE ARTICLE? I got mad at the campus writer of Varsi back then because I was totally misquoted when she interviewed me and I wrote and demanded a correction that came out in the next issue. I never said that "thousands died" in the UST campus "even before it was built" since this area was just a ricefield before the campus was built. I am familiar with the history of UST and the article writer seemed to want to have her story published and sensationalized it by using tabloid descriptions. I am a recognized UST historian and this part of the article is damaging to my reputation as it seem to show that I am not familiar with my alma mater.rnThank you and hope my request be addressed.rnDr. Jose Victor Z. I have a cousin who used to teach in St. Pauls. One school day she saw an unfamiliar nun walking along the corridor. Just when she was about to walk past the nun, it disappeared into thin air.rnrnhere in UP, we have doppelgangers as well. I saw one of our staff get off the elevator and entered the staff room. Mere seconds later I saw her again walking up the stairs. When I asked her, "di ba nag-elevator ka?paanong nakababa ka na ulit?" She said, "Ha? kakarating ko lang, na-late ako." We both couldn't believe it.

Weirdly enough, I don't remember the HS in Miriam College has a lanai area. The College has one though. Its also possible that the story was set in a time when the HS was still in the building where the College is settled in now... though I don't remember that history.rnrnVery very interesting stories. :)
