"It's More Fun in the Philippines" Meme: Top 30 Fun Photos on the Web

(SPOT.ph) Following the unveiling of the new Department of Tourism (DOT) slogan, "It's More Fun in the Philippines," on January 6, Friday, the hashtag #ItsMoreFunInThePhilippines became the top trending topic worldwide. The slogan was created by advertising firm BBDO Guerrero|Proximity Philippines and according to DOT Secretary Ramon "Mon" Jimenez Jr., the slogan answers the fundamental question, 'Why the Philippines?'."

 

Social networking sites are now abuzz with images depicting netizens' own take on what makes the Philippines "more fun". Using their own photos from their own travels around the country and fun shots from the Web, people have been sharing their own images and taglines on the official "It's More Fun in the Philippines" Facebook page.

 

Over on the virtual pinboard Pinterest.com, blogger Anton Diaz has created a page (pinterest.com/antondiaz/itsmorefuninthephilippines) where Pinoys can share their own memes and help make the photos make it on Pinterest's most popular images. Diver and blogger Jayvee Fernandez has also posted useful tips on how to join in the fun and create your own “It’s More Fun in the Philippines” meme. The meme has also made it to Buzzfeed.com, with a feature posted on January 8. From the witty to the outrageously funny, here, our favorite images:

    ang daming taong gusto at naniniwala na "more fun in the Philippines" ako din, sama ako sa biyahe sa Pilipinas. Kahit mainit sa Pilipinas lalo na pag summer, hehehe nothing beats the Philippines. Kawawa lang ang mga nagtataksil sa bayan dito, yung mga nagpupunta sa ibang bansa at kinakalimutan ang sinilangang bayan. Sabi nga : para silang malansang isda. mga walang prinsipyo.

That is b*llsh*t! ganid na ang tawag dyan at walang prinsipyo. lulunukin ang mga prinsipyo at kinamulatang simulain para lang sa kagustuhang kumita ng dollar, tapos manlalait ng ibang mga kababayan dito.     Philippines.... a beautiful country but sometimes taken for granted by some of the filipinos. This is sad for there are many good things here but overlooked by others. I like picture 6 that of the Choc nut, love it and my favorite. Okay na iyon sa akin basta choc nut. Also picture 25, part of our culture, the bayanihan. Only in the Philippines for we are beautiful people in this beautiful and more fun place to be..... our very own Philippines (bawal po ang sumabit na hindi naman talaga maka Pilipinas, :-)

    well said, filipina ako. i am sure you also know that most filipinos who were successful but decided to work abroad for better opportunities say good things about the philippines. most filipinos who failed in the philippines and decided to work abroad have something bad to say about the philippines. this is expected from losers. sad to say but some of us have the tendency to blame others for their failures.

    Ang ganda talaga ng Pilipinas. Nakapunta na ako ng ibang bansa pero hindi ko nalimutan ang Pilipinas. Mga hibang lang ang makakalimot dito. Kahit sa Las Vegas, Los Angeles, New York, walang mas gaganda pa dito. May sayad sa utak ang mga magsasabing mas maganda sa ibang bansa kaysa dito.

Some Filipinos are mesmerized by the lights and sounds of other countries and may tendency sila na sabihin sa Pilipinas na "wala ng pag asa dito" at sasabihin pa nila: maganda talaga sa ibang bansa. nakakallimutan na nila ang kanilang sinilangang Pilipinas. At siempre, iiwan din nila ang mga taong mahal nila sa buhay. Hay naku ! ang ibang pilipino talaga.

    Philippines is really a beautiful country and therefore, more fun. Comparative kasi ang nagamit na word kaya ang assumption is we are comparing it with other countries. I agree that family and friends and loved ones make it more fun to stay in the Philippines plus of course the beautiful places.

    I am just saddened by the fact that some Filipinos when they reach and when blessed to go to other countries they are mesmerized by the lights, sounds and way of life there so they tend to forget their motherland that nurture them as Filipinos. They even have the tendency to forget their loved ones who are patiently waiting for them. Medyo dramatic ang dating ko but hindi po ako nag generalize, yung iba lang. No stereotyping din po :-)

    Agree on your point, the whale shark photo is so wrong. It is irresponsible tourism. Inasmuch as it may look exciting, it is not beneficial for the fish. I think this was taken in Oslob, Cebu where the sharks are being 'fed'.

    The photo with the whale shark is so wrong. You're not supposed to go near or touch them! As much as we'd all like to contribute to DOT's campaign, netizens should make sure they're only promoting responsible tourism activities. Tourists might get the wrong idea and endanger the whale sharks, including their own safety.
