(SPOT.ph) On any random day, Tsukiji can get pretty crowded: business executives mixing meetings with a meal fill the dining space at lunch while families and even dating couples head to the restaurant for dinner. Dishing out Japanese food since 1989, Tsukiji on Pasay Road, says chef and general manager J. Gamboa, has earned its own loyal following. Now, going for their take on Japanese cuisine is easier on the pocket: Tsukiji's daily lunch specials priced at P495+ comes with rice, soup, side dishes and your choice of featured dish for the day.

Daily entrees range from Curry Rice Teishoku and Sukiyaki to Tonkotsu Ramen—all served with tuna sashimi, rice, soup, and side dishes. “The lunch specials allow you to try almost everything on the Tsukiji menu. We always have a fried dish, noodles, grilled Japanese fish and a meat dish to choose from,” shares Gamboa. Still craving a platter of fresh sushi or sashimi? Chef Gamboa says you can park yourself by the sushi bar where resident chef Nobu Onishi who hails from Osaka can be found slicing delectable sushi or melt-in-your-mouth sashimi, or you can order Omakase-style, meaning you leave the decision-making all up to chef Nobu (sushi and sashimi platters start at P490).

“We get our seafood from Tokyo,” adds Gamboa. “They’re delivered thrice a week, ensuring that your salmon, hamachi, and uni are all fresh.” Tsukiji also has a private teppanyaki area, a yakiniku room where you can grill your preferred specialty beef, and a shabu-shabu menu for DIY fans.

The daily lunch specials change weekly; check their Facebook page or log on to the Tsukiji website to subscribe to their weekly updates.
