ROUND 10: Impersonators

There's probably an army of Nora Aunor impersonators.

Perhaps, because of her distinct mannerisms, Nora Aunor seems to be a favorite among impersonators. Aside from "Ate Gay," there are more Nora Aunor "clones" in comedy bars. Heck, some people even turn into "split second impersonators" each time they mouth off Nora's famous lines such as "Walang himala!" and "My brother is not a pig."

Jon Santos does a great job impersonating Vilma Santos, but then he also impersonates Nora Aunor and other personalities.

Vilma Santos is not that easy to impersonate. Comedian Jon Santos does a great job at it, but then he also impersonates Nora Aunor.

The round goes to: Nora Aunor. She's very, very "impersonatable."

THE FINAL VERDICT: We love them both. Maybe after they star in another movie together we can decide who gets to be National Artist first. (Then again, maybe Dolphy should get before either of them do. Ate Vi said so. We're pretty sure Nora would be just as gracious.)

Of course Vilma Santos has the edge having it all... awards local, national and international including 4 grand slams awards, box office until now (no box office can be called has been), a directors choice for critically and commercial films, government awards like Plaridel and Diwata etc(a prelude to National Artist awards), successful personal, professional life. VS has the total package unlike ate guy na awards na lang ang meron.....

Uhm. I believe Nora Aunor is the winner. How many international awards does Vilma got? ZERO. Nora Aunor is named 10 Asian Best Actresses of all Time and she was featured in HBO's Life of the Greatest Actresses of the World. There's no competition here. I believe that the so called "Underacting" is better than the Hysterical one. The latter sometimes turns out to be comedic.

Nora is the better actress infact she is the greatest of them all. Everytime theres an acting derby between the 2 of them, Most of the time, its nora who comes out winning only lately when Nora decided to stop doing movies that Vilma edges her in all time best actress haul ( 2000 - 2011) Vilma won several acting awards for the movies In My Life, Mano Po III, Dekada 70 and Anak. Nora made one film (Naglalayag 2004) but unfortunately Vilma has no movies for that YEar. It's really great to see them both again in one acting duel to see who is better. The underacting or the hysterical acting?

You can sum up Philippine cinema history in one sentence:
    Before and after NORA AUNOR.
    Enough said.

I would choose Nora anytime. She's simply great and no one comes close to her. Vilma may be good but not enough to edge out Nora.

Don't worry about it, it's just a light take on the matter by Spot. But if it all boils down to two projects, Nora Aunor's 'Tatlong taong walang Diyos' and Vilma Santos' 'Burlesk Queen', Aunor will have my vote, cards down and all in.

Talagang pati love life??? Inaakala kong bubulatlatin isa-isa ang cultural values ng mga pelikulag matino na nagawa ng bawat isa, hindi pala. Love life talaga???

Exactly. In fact, it's Nora's most important contribution - inspiring and giving hope to the the *gly, the poor, and the plain-looking masses.

Vilma tried to be funny in Viva Films' "Doctor, Doctor, We Are Sick" opposite Tito, Vic and Joey in the mid-80's. Unfortunately, she failed miserably. The movie was a monumental box-office flop. True, she did have some funny moments in "In My Life." Nora, on the other hand, has shown comedic talent (and expertise!) since the 70's. She was incredibly hilarious in "Little Christmas Tree" with FPJ, "Ibalik ang Swerti," "Lollipops and Roses at Burong Talangka" with Cocoy Laurel, "Batu-Bato sa Langit," "Wanted: Dead or Alayb," "Sapagkat Kami'y Mga Misis Lamang" with Susan Roces, "Kaming Matatapang ang Apog" and "Jack and Jill of the Third Kind" with Dolphy, "Huwag Hamakin Hostess" with Alma Moreno, "Bakekang," "Kasal-Kasalan, Bahay-Bahayan," "Totoo Ba ang Tsismis?" with Gabby Concepcion, "Annie Sabungera," "Palengke Queen," and others.

In fairness, enduring din yung love team nina Christopher De Leon and Vilma Santos. I'm a big fan of it, even until now. I would like to see them together again in a project.
