Over 300,000 online and mobile votes were cast for 65 restaurants in 13 categories to make up 2009's list of "gold spots" in Manila.
The Nescafe Gold Spot Awards panel of judges whittled down the list of over 400 nominees to 65 establishments worthy of being named the best in Manila for 2009. From December 1, 2009 to January 31, 2010, readers voted for their favorites for nine Best Cuisine awards, namely Best Filipino, Italian, Japanese, and Chinese Restaurants, and the Best Steakhouse, Delicatessen, Dessert Place, Buffet and Bar. This year's competition also features new categories: The People's Choice categories, where readers can vote for the Best Restaurant Chain and Best Service awards; and the Panel's Choice categories, namely New Restaurant of the Year and the Restaurant of the Year.
The voting public's and the judges' votes will each have 50 per cent weight on the final scores of the Best Cuisine categories. People's Choice categories were determined solely by the voting public while the judges decided on the Panel's Choice categories.
