The New ePassport: No long queues, delivery available

Published: Mar 8, 2010 - 5:42pm

All passport applications are now processed only through the new ePassport's appointment system via its website (passport.com.ph) or hotline (737-1000). With the appointment system, applicants no longer have to wait in long queues at the new Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) office along Macapagal Boulevard and they have the option of having their passports delivered.

Applicants are advised to arrive 30 minutes before the scheduled time with the necessary documents. No need to bring photographs since the ePassport data capturing machines will take their pictures, Office of Consular Affairs Assistant Sec. Renato Villapando told Inquirer.net. He added that the ePassport can "detect fraud by capturing biometrics, signature and fingerprints of applicants."

Applicants who choose to have their passports delivered can expect their passports within 14 working days (regular processing for P950) or seven working days (rush processing for P1,200).

For inquiries, call the DFA at 831-8971, 551-4437, 551-4402, 834-4855 or 834-4424.

igeramos, you are the certifiable verde ang dugo.

Imagine, spending St. Patricks Day (17 March) in the center of green @ Dublin.

Don't forget to think and wear and drink green (Midouri Sour) at any of the Irish Pub come St. Paddy's Day. Play safe. Pagbalik mo sa Manila, I expect you to do the River Dance at Showtime. Sosi di ba! Kailangan naman ma expose ang masa on anything that is European.

In London, say hi to Elizabeth and Arabella (if she is still there)and also to Leslie Mobo (at Harrods). Ingat lang sa Heathrow, magulo ang sistema nila doon!

I tried this and it worked just fine. Just ignore the fixers outside who tell you that you need your photo taken, or that the e-passport system is down. Some of them even have government IDs but they're all fake. Go straight to DFA!

Filipinos all over the world are providing world-class service and technical advice in advanced countries.

It's about time that the locals experience the service and technology experienced in other countries.

This is what happens when officials think of the welfare of others and not fatten their pockets through corruption.
