There's no rally, according to Rock Ed, the revolutionary volunteer group, but a book giveaway to be held Sunday, May 24at the Baywalk, Roxas Boulevard (across Malate Church) from 3p.m. 'til Sunset. Bookbigayan 2009 will focus on giving away books to anyone who wants them, "Maximum of 5 books per person", says Rock Ed leader Gang Badoy. The event also provides an opportunity for booklovers to do their share by donating books as a creative protest against the taxation of books.
The book taxation issue seems to have come to a pause everywhere except the blogosphere, where even author Neil Gaiman re-Tweeted a post to help push the cause. Similarly, a news item on The Blog Herald May 14 gave a nod to the local blogosphere using Twitter to express their sentiments and push the issue to be as popular as David Cook and David Archuleta.
