An estimated 200,000 people braved the rains and traffic jams and flocked to boulevards and highways traversing three cities to say goodbye to the simple housewife who led her nation in the toppling of a dictator 23 years ago.

People from all walks of life trooped to the stretch of Roxas Boulevard starting from the Manila Cathedral in Intramuros all the way to the South Superhighway leading to the Manila Memorial Park in Parañaque to bid farewell to former President Corazon Aquino as she was brought to her final resting place beside her late husband Ninoy. Five citizen journalists were there to capture the journey of her cortege in the momentous occasion that made history on August 5, 2009:

MARAMING MARAMING SALAMAT PO! I'VE BEEN CHECKING THE INTERNET FOR MORE PICTURES TAKEN DURING TITA CORY'S VIEWING/FUNERAL MOMENTS AND GRATEFUL FOR ALL OF THESE.

I FEEL VERY PROUD BEING FILIPINO OUTSIDE OF P.I. AT LAST, WE HAVE SOMEONE LIKE TITA CORY, A GREAT HUMAN BEING. THANK YOU GOD FOR SHARING HER WITH US, IN YOUR TIME.

MY DEEPEST CONDOLENCE TO THE COJUANCO-AQUINO FAMILY.

FROM: A DISTANT RELATIVE, AQUINO SIDE.

I agree with the blog about that TONY was definitely lost and was not very effective in hosting Cory's funeral for ANC. You can tell that he really didn't care for Cory or what was going on.

maganda din yung mga photos ni Illac Diaz. It's on his Facebook profile. He was at the cemetery so his pics were super up close.

Thank you for this article. Incredibly moving and a brilliant way to capture the pulse of a nation mourning the loss of an icon. Kudos to the photographers for their pictures.
