Shhh! 10 Motel Secrets Revealed
SPOT.ph went undercover to get down and dirty on Manila's motels.

They usually come in clusters of two or three on one street, with bright neon signs, long driveways, and high walls, and if you've never been in one, you're probably curious about what goes on inside. SPOT.ph did some snooping and ended up uncovering some intriguing motel myths:

MYTH #1: Motels are busiest late at night and in the wee hours of the morning.

Contrary to popular belief, most motels' peak hours are not late at night. In fact, most people check into motels between   9 a.m. and   10 p.m. Once it's past 10 in the evening, the number of check-ins dwindle.

Most motels' busiest hours are during lunch time for the infamous "Secretary Special," now more commonly termed as "OB (Official Business)." From 11 a.m. to 1p.m., business people ranging from managers, employees, and clients check in and spend their lunch hours conducting their "special business meetings" in the privacy of their work-conducive motel rooms.

MYTH #2: Most motel patrons are dirty old men.

If ageing men still had the stamina of bulls, then there would be no need for Arthro or Viagra. Sadly, grandpa's libido isn't as impressive as it was in the swinging '60s. According to our unnamed sources, most of the patrons who go in and out of their hallowed halls are between 20 and 30 years old. Of course, that doesn't completely discount the old-timers. Some granddaddies still drop in from time to time.

MYTH # 3: Motels only allow one couple to check in per motel suite.

This myth is a tricky one, since the policy changes from one establishment to another. At some motels, two people of the same sex cannot share a room. But what most motels have in common is a two-person-per-room policy. If more than two people show up at the front desk, they would have to pay for the corresponding number of rooms, depending on how many they are. In the case of three people, for example, they would have to pay for two rooms   even if they're planning to use just one.

One exception: When a family checks into a motel (which happens frequently, by the way) they are given a special family suite strategically situated a certain distance from the couples' suites.

Report AbusernReason rnE-mail Address rn rninlovernFebruary 25, 2010 @ 02:04 PMrnrnit was my first time to enter in a motel (victoria court)...floodeed streets..no signal celphones..hopeless case where in i didnt know what to do i couldnt go home becuase of typhoon ondoy thanks to victoria court i was able to contain myself and be relaxed after long hours of walking due to heavy flood..indeed i had a second home at that moment in the middle of the typhoon ondoy..rnrnrnrnStories like this are widely reported... And most of them are from "paid posters"... in other words, someone who is working to promote these chains. While VC is certainly one of the 'classier' motels. it's no home away from home. From the moment you arrive, they are trying to pressure (hustle) you into one of their most expensive suites. Their promo fares seem to disappear. The real question is: are they charging the customer for the higher priced room and then only registering as a promo fare (putting the money in their pocket)? Could be.. Regardless, the chain should take a pro-avtive approach so that customers wont be turned off by their hard-sell tactics, deceptive advertising. If they want to be mainstream they should act like it, rather than trying to trick the customer with 'promos' that don't exist or whatever. For me I'd much rather go to a lesser known place, rather than having to deal with the staff who are attempting to get as much money from the customer as possible. Just my two cents.

I just wonder if the author got some free stays or other incentives for running this PR piece for the motel industry. That's the real question... Because anyone who is familiar with these places know that half of these 'secrets' are BS. Sounds more like VC gave the author something to run something like this which makes their chain and the industry itself look 'mainstream' and 'legit' compared to the dirty backroom image that it's had for so many years.

Yes this is funny. Don't have adult channels? Don't offer condoms, sex toys, special services etc.? Hilarious. rnrnTry actually going to some of these places rather than 'interviewing' someone who works there and will obviously deny these things. I've have gone to very few motels that DIDN'T have an adult channel line up. And believe me, I'm familiar with virtually - so much that my friends call me the "motel manager." I've gone to virtually all the known establishments in the Greater Manila area and many lesser known ones. As for none of these places offering "special services" that's laughable too. While they may not advertise it, at most establishments, the roomboys can/will easily arrange something for a gentleman arriving alone. Not saying it's an actual employee who will render the services, but you can bet the room boy will get a few extra bucks for recommending. No one cares unless they motel will get in trouble... which never happens. And for that matter, it's well known that many establishments basically have an aquarium or room that is full of girls waiting to take care of their customers.. Again, maybe the room is rented by a third party or handler, but you can bet the management/staff know what's going on. Of course they won't admit these things. Why would they? They're making good money and on the surface running legal establishments. If I were them I'd distance myself from these claims too.

My partner and I have tried Victoria Court once. Super ganda at the price of around 500 for 6 hours. Di ka lugi kasi may ref na iyon sa room. Plus, super sosyal ng bathroom. Makes you feel like a royalty. So when we checked out tsk, my partner asked for a patron discount card :)) looks like we'll be a frequent visitor na.

it depends which hotels/motels were surveyed... if these were the cheap ones along quiapo, all of these myths will be proven as facts... but since it seems mga high end hotels/motels ito ang respondents dito, hopefully mas secure and much better din ang services...

I can't understand why a motel would deny any couple of the same gender. Business is business. Expose these motels so that the pink peso power can be activated (meaning, LGBT friends and families will boycott these motels).

I've never been to a motel that denied me and my male companion entrance. I learned this policy of not allowing 2 guests of the same gender in One Night Only (Jose Javier Reyes) and I thought it was a nice comedic touch but it's a myth pala. Thank Jesus I haven't encountered that policy.

Heard from a friend that the pancit canton at the flower group motels (dahlia, orchids, rosal etc) is so good that even the church groups from around the area order from there. The lumpiang shanghai aint bad as well.

    As for:

Myth #6 - They provide standard lubricants and condoms. Nothing kinky.

    Myth #9 - Channel 99 and 100. Check it.
