Hot in the City: Top 10 Make-Out Spots in Metro Manila

The retail therapy haven along C5 Road probably inspires couples to be affectionate in plain sight. The strip facing C5 is where some couples allegedly get mushy. We have to admit, though, that this make-out spot pick has us scratching our heads in wonder. But a nighttime frequenter reports action-packed sightings, "usually in the gazebos shaped like horse-drawn carts or calesas facing C5, or on the wooden benches at the exhibit halls and between the pasilyos when there's no tiangge or exhibit going on, when the lights are out at night."

UNIVERSITY OF THE PHILIPPINES (UP) SUNKEN GARDEN
As the saying goes, "All work and no play makes Juan or Juana a dull kid." This five-hectare garden (a vast grassy lot surrounded by trees), located inside the University of the Philippines' Diliman, Quezon City campus has kept its reputation as a make-out spot despite the presence of security guards and their flashlights at night. A UP student, who refused to be named, said, "Couples sit on the benches around the Sunken Garden at sundown. When it's dark, they move to the center of the garden." We give that student a grade of "1" for the info. It is also alleged that many mornings after have bore witness to used condoms strewn all over this grassy lovers' paradise-- good news because it's proof of the practice of safe sex on campus premises, and perhaps bad news because of, well, littering violations.

SPOT.ph wants to know: Know of any other Manila make-out hotspots not on this list?

@Dot: Yes, there's a Nayong Pilipino in Clark, but the old one in Pasay still exists.rnrnIn fact, you may call the Nayong Pilipino Foundation Administration at 832-3767 (Office of the Administrator). When we called, the administrator said the park is still open to the public for free though he warned us that it is no longer "maganda." They charge a parking fee for those with vehicles. Joggers and bikers are welcome.rnrnOn top of this information, they confirmed that they don't call it anything else but Nayong Pilipino even in its less-than-stellar state. rnrnThanks for reading SPOT.ph. :)

Isn't it that Nayong Pilipino is in Clark? That one near the airport still exists pala?

wala nang nayong pilipino. how do i know? i work for the consortium that bought the land. true, it has been transformed, but to call it nayong pilipino is a misnomer. hindi na ito yung showcase of philippine wonders dati. yung sa facebook, you have been bamboozled.

di sya closed, napabayaan lang...as in parang gubat na nakakatakot na yung ibang parts. eh nakapunta pa ako. dun malapit office namin. gov't office. my colleagues and i jog there before our workday starts. akala talaga ng mga tao wala na sya pero try mo pumunta, hahayaan kayo ng guards mamamasyal dun for free.
  • !!! Aug 28 2010 @ 02:59am Report Abuse
noon pa closed ang nayon pilipino kaya, it's been years.
  • ... Aug 27 2010 @ 11:02pm Report Abuse
Huh? wala na ang nayong pilipino?! look it has a facebook page with updated pics -- http://www.facebook.com/pages/Pasay-City-Philippines/Nayong-Pilipino/122524950713?ref=ts#!/pages/Pasay-City-Philippines/Nayong-Pilipino/122524950713?v=wall&ref=ts --- plus, kapupunta lang ng family namin dun last weekend. nawala na agad ngayon?
  • Ermmm Aug 27 2010 @ 08:07pm Report Abuse
Nayong Pilipino per se still exists, though it is no longer as stellar as it used to be. It's been neglected. But when a place is neglected it doesn't mean it no longer exists. The "sosyal" set may not wander into the area now, but, believe me, the "non-sosyal" crowd goes there to canoodle. Why do I know this? I work for an gov't office situated near the Nayong Pilipino compound. My colleagues and I jog in the said location. When the sun goes down and the guards no longer bother to patrol the grounds, very interesting things happen behind bushes.

the list also has a glaring omission: intramuros. the walled city is still a favorite because of its dark streets and other unlighted nooks and crannies. i believe intramuros should have been here instead of nayong pilipino.
  • whatsthefrequency Aug 27 2010 @ 04:35pm Report Abuse
whoever wrote this list has not been making out around metro manila recently. WALA NA PONG NAYONG PILIPINO. if the writer intended the entry to be a sort of flashback, then the title of the list is misleading. how can a place that's been replaced with casinos and hotels still be part of the top 10? nostalgia? then put it in the copy under the nayong pilipino photo: this used to be the favorite make-out spot of our parents' generation - and most probably i was conceived here.
