Government employees to get P10,000 "Christmas bonus" starting December 8

Published: Dec 6, 2011 - 12:01pm

GMA News Online reports that President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III has ordered the giving of the P10,000 productivity enhancement incentive (PEI) to government employees starting December  8, Thursday.

On December 1, the president had signed Administrative Order 24, which authorized the granting of the PEI to government employees for fiscal year 2011.

The report noted: "Eligible for the bonus are civilian employees that occupy regular, casual or contractual positions with at least four months of service in national government agencies under the executive branch, including those in government owned or controlled corporations and government financial institutions."

The report listed other eligible recipient of the cash bonus such as military personnel of the Armed Forces, Department of National Defense, uniformed personnel of the Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection and Bureau of Jail Management; Philippine Coast Guard and National Mapping and Resource Information Authority.

The report also added: "Employees of the Senate, House of Representatives, the Judiciary, the Office of the Ombudsman  and constitutional offices vested with fiscal autonomy may also be granted a one time productivity enhancement incentive not exceeding P10,000."

Hahay The government will really screw you. Kapirangot ang sweldo and you work hard and you stay honest tapos gagaguhin ka lang. Time to crawl out of this pit.

As far as I know nka allocate na yan,kay gloria nga, khit 7k meron, kc ang 3 k will shoulder by the respective govt agencies. Pero 5k for the year is really unfair,,, I dont think this is fair enough, pnp employees ako, and came from luzon area, mga kakilala ko from mindanao got their bonus amounting to 15k, I think this is cruel, we are in the same agency (crame) pero not in the same amount? Sounds ironic right? As far as bonus is concern, i heard some gossip na, dhil s bagyong pablo thats why maliit dw ngyon?
Ndi q alm how can we fight for this right na it shldnt be posted in the news paper or in the web of pnp na magrerelease ang govt ng bonuses for the employees and yet iba nmn ang nkuha nmin. We are really expected more than 10k because of the new implemented incentive. I thought this will be 10k for the pnoy bonus and 5k for the cash bonus. Even if they will not give the said cash bonus, sna man lng yong dti nlng na 10k bonus that was being issued kc yan na expected not only pnp but also lahat ng govt employees. Once a year lng nmn,,, disappointed pa mga tao,,,tsk,,,tsk,,,as if ndi buwis buhay ang work nmin.

Naku ang lala pala ng sa inyo. Nakakainis di ba? Lalo na you work the whole year na walang reklamo. Mas nagsisi ako na I was st*p*d enough to remain in government service kahit sobrang parang basura na ang trato sa empleyado. Akala ko kasi tuwid na daan. Malas ko lang nauto ako. Hahay. Buhay.

Pero diba dpt lahat gnun? Kaya nagtaka aq,, if pnp aq, dpt lahat ng pnp employees same ang mkukuha, since isa lng nmn ang nag rerelease nyan sa crame lng. Hanggang dito ba nmn may kotongan pa? I doubt if wla,,,

(Contractual employee of govt is a victim of injustice. We are still seeking of RIGHT TREATMENT and JUSTICE to government. We the contractual, working a lot, inspired to work coz we could receive a PNoy PEI. But we are so sad inaasahan man namin yung 10K.. Some are feel hilarious but some are feel TERRIBLE SAD dahil ala kaming 10K. BE Fair NOt BE UNFair.)

10,000 bonus for a whole year of work (or PhP 833/mo not even a thousand per month!) is not even enough people! The purpose of the incentive is for the government workers to perform better! because we all know their public image is well as they say slackers and redundant. Why so much hate for the 10,000 pesos which was earned for a year? I just pity those teachers, nurses, soldiers who really work their asses out but just because of the PEI where belittled by other people. Maybe if you are really pissed off because of this PEI try working for the government and see for yourself how these people have earned their PEI!

Most government workers are... redundant! Let's face the fact that our government is already running on a fiscal deficit with most of its revenue generating units already performing way below standards! In for profit, private companies- no one gets a bonus unless the whole d-mn company is doing well.

There'll be undesirables whether in gov't or in the private sector. What peeves most folk is even slackers in gov't will get their productivity enhancement initiative? Wow. Bigtime!

I felt bitterness from the last two comments below... the PEI is not a privilege. Many private sector corporations have used incentive programs to improve processes and outcomes so why not to government wherein the whole country can benefit from.
@ jepong Since income tax in the Philippines is a progressive tax (meaning people with higher incomes pay more than people with lower incomes) i assume you are earning a lot because you claimed your deduction was "napakalaki". While government employees (who are also tax payers) are living paycheck to paycheck because of their measly income.
@ mike Why be so judgmental? Most government workers are hard workers generalizing and calling them inefficient and criminal (these are people with high government position, rarely for those rank and file employees) is unfair. Also, it is never pathetic to reward someone of their whole year of hard work.

there goes yung napakalaki ko deduction last month... haaayyy... buti pa kayo!

What is this pathetic Xmas lolly scramble for public servants we taxpayers are forced to endure every year? They should get a 13th month pay like everyone else and be done with. Why on earth should some of the most inefficient and often times, criminal, workers in the country get bestowed special salary priveleges every year? Its pathetic that politicians feel they have to brown nose up to these people just to try and get them to do their jobs.
