PH stocks ascend to new record high with increase of "almost 2%"

Interaksyon.com reports that share prices of listed firms "(increased) by almost 2 percent to set a new high for the local bourse" on Wednesday, January 11.

The report noted: "At the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE), the composite index rose 1.86 percent or 84.78 points to close at 4,645.86 while the all shares index went up 1.44 percent to 3,151.11. The composite index or the PSEi is the benchmark of the price movements of all listed firms. All sectors ended in the green, with Servcies index logging the biggest rise of 3.256 percent to 1,753.65."

According to the report, the "actively traded stocks" were "Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co., which gained P120 to close at P2,818 per share, followed by SM Investments Corp., which added P25 to P595, and Ayala Land Inc., which went up by 68 centavos to P17.08."

    The stock mart is a paper market which doesn't benefit the masses. It's a game for the investor because it's highly speculative loaded with potential bombs in high risk stocks. Can the everyday man play? Only if he can afford it. Which is not saying much, really.
