Inquirer.net reports that Filipino boxing icon and incumbent Sarangani Rep. Manny Pacquiao has, for the second straight year, won the distinction of being the richest among the 287 House of Representatives members, most of whom are reportedly millionaires. This was revealed by Ricardo Bering, chief of the House’s record management section. Bering said, however, that he could not give exact figures since House leaders have not given their go-signal for the public disclosure of the statement of assets, liabilities and net worth (SALN). But Bering said that Pacquiao "reported an increase in his net worth in 2011."
In his 2010 SALN, Pacquiao declared that his net worth was ₱1.134 billion—with ₱397.933 million in real properties and P736.3 million in personal and other properties. Pacman did not declare any liabilities then. For comparison, Inquirer.net noted: "In contrast, Anakpawis Representative Rafael Mariano was the poorest lawmaker, with a net worth of ₱ 75, 711."
