Mo Twister, 2 other DJs suspended over Charice Pempengco sex tape joke on Twitter

Published: May 10, 2012 - 8:05am

ABS-CBNNews.com reports that Mo Twister and two other DJs of radio station Magic 89.9 have been suspended for allegedly starting the hashtag #charicepempengcosextape on the popular microblogging site Twitter. Mo Twister (Mohan Gumatay in real life) Gumatay, along with DJs Tin Gamboa and Mia Bayuga, reportedly started the hashtag “as a joke” while their show “GoodTimes” was on air Wednesday, May 9.

In a statement, Magic 89.9 said the station “does not condone what happened this morning, May 9, 2012 on GoodTimes.” It also said "the DJs involved shall be suspended from boardwork for two weeks without pay as consequence of their actions.”

Charice, meanwhile, in her official Twitter account, said she thought Mo Twister was nice and that he was “unbelievable.” “Too bad. Remember, you interviewed me? I thought you were nice. anyway, I should talk to you FACE TO FACE. :)” she reportedly said.

I became a fan of the show since it does relieve me from the stress of going to work every morning. The combination of the three (Mo, Suzy and Mia) was really good. It did caught me off guard that Mia was already a mainstay since she and Boom really were a match made in heaven.
Anyways back to the issue, I admit to tweeting and hashtagging the malicious content about Charice with out any intention of hurting her, nor her fans. I do like her voice, really. However the way she responded to the issue came of as rude and snobby. A lot of Hollywood actors/artists have been a victim of twitter hoax as well, some are even proclaiming people dead but you don't see them suing the websites that caused those hoax, right? She should even be thankful to Mo and Mia for reviving her career, making her trend! (if you really tuned in last wednesday, it was the 2 of them who thought about it, not Suzy. She was just reading the tweets of people on-air)
The 2 weeks suspension was too much, it should've been only 1 week suspension.
Like it's a pain in the *ss to wake up by 4 to get to a 6AM show! Ha!
Have a good vacation, Goodtimes crew! I'm looking forward to listen to the radio after 2 weeks, for now I think I'll be back with my Black Keys mixtape while on my way to work.

The problem with people is it started with a joke and people just took it too seriously. The fact is most celebrities are made fun of on a daily basis and to be affected would just take too much from their already busy schedule, so why be affected by a simple joke when you know it isn't even true. It goes too show that the masses of Filipinos are ignorant to this kind of humor which is very typical already.

And to Charice you entered this industry, you should've been prepared, there are things far worse you are just over reacting.

To the Goodtimes crew you guys shouldn't be suspended for something so petty.
    More power to GOODTIMES.

The problem with humor in this country is that the common JOLOGS cannot comprehend it and would twist things around. So there the joke got out of hand and the humor got lost. We are a far cry from the humor they put in Saturday Night Live or the Soup. Put these jokes on air and people would freak out. Alam mo naman dito, ang iinit ng ulo ng mga pinoy. Pikon talo pa. Haay.

Dunno what drives gumatay and his radio inanities but he's nowhere near Howard Stern's league. gumatay is just plain tsismoso while Stern is a dyed in the wool shock jock. Maybe if gumatay is a Jew i might just go for his antics, but he doesn't seem to be one. He'll pass off as LAOS-ian, though.

What can you expect from someone who grew up in the USA (and who finds every opportunity to rub it into our faces)? He obviously has got opportunities to listen to the REAL Howard Stern...he thinks that whatever might fly in cosmopolitan NY or LA (if it's true he was partially raised in these cities) may work even among the elites in this here backwater city
