InterAksyon.com reports that Toni Gonzaga is now getting flak for weighing in on the Lady Gaga controversy on ABS-CBNs showbiz talk show The Buzz Sunday afternoon, May 20. Gonzaga and her co-hosts Boy Abunda and Charlene Gonzalez were discussing the fact that there were religious groups who were protesting Lady Gaga's presence in the country.

Gonzaga had revealed: "Personally, I liked Lady Gaga before, especially yung first song pa lang n'ya (with her first song). Pero eventually nung napansin ko na medyo nga nagkakaroon ng double meaning yung mga succeeding songs n'ya (But I eventually sensed that her succeeding songs had double meanings so), I stopped listening to her music." Gonzalez had said, "Personally, I really like Lady Gaga and I think you can choose the good and leave out the bad." It was then that Gonzaga countered, "No, but hindi ba, you are what you listen to. Kung ano yung pinakikinggan mo, eventually, subconsciously, nagiging ganun na rin, it affects your mind, especially music."

Reacting to Gonzaga's statements, performance artist Carlos Celdran tweeted: "It's the day of kabobohan (idiocy). Toni Gonzaga. Ikaw pala ang tunay na (You are the real) Lady Gaga. Are you for real?" When other Twitter users (presumably Gonzaga's fans) reacted, Celdran tweeted:"True. Being boba is not a crime. Correct."

nakakatuwa naman kayo. e dun pa lang sa sa sinabi nyang ito:

"you are what you listen to.

Toni Gonzaga does not compromise her beliefs.i admire her for speaking her mind out kahit na marami ang babanggain niya. So what if she did songs of Lady Gaga in the past? It has no bearing whatsoever with her opinion now. Sometimes, it is the producer or director of the show that tells you what song to sing. And the song she sang was not the song she was questioning. The song she was talking about was "Judas". The fact that she performed Gaga's songs in the past should not hinder from expressing her criticisms about Gaga now. She did admit she liked Gaga before. YOU WERE JUST NOT LISTENING TO WHAT SHE WAS SAYING ! She still made a very good point. Some Filipinos are just close-minded. Masabi lang tama sila , sasabihi ng "st*p*d' ang ibang point of view. Why can't you just disagree with a person without insulting? It's not even needed. Toni is very SMARTt and it is not in her character to say something without basis. She may have humble beginnings but she came from a well-educated family. Both her parents are well-educated people with good jobs even before Toni joined showbiz. Toni will not reach where she is now if she didn't have a good head over her shoulders. She still is one of the smartest young artist today.

She has the right to voice out her opinon. No one has the right to insult her or call her "st*p*d' just because they don't agree with her point of view. I didn't hear her say "st*p*d' to those who differ from her point of view. I believe those who took her line "you are what you listen to" literally are the real st*p*d people. That was a figure of speech. And she did not make that up. She's not st*p*d. She has good basis for what she said. Baka iyong bumabatikos sa kanyan ang ignorante.

Toni said something based on her own research and there are studies done by knowledgeable American psychologists that prove her point. It's just that some people are ignorant about these studies. Toni is very smart. She will not make up a line like that. She has good basis for that. Read: http://theskooloflife.com/wordpress/guest-post-you-are-what-you-listen-to-not-just-what-you-eat/

Yes Toni has the right to express her opinion regarding the issue. But one should not forget that freedom of expression does not include freedom from criticisms. She has the courage to voice out her opinion in public thus, she must also has the courage to accept scrutiny and criticism from the public. That's how life works and if you are against it, then you have the options to shut up and to keep your opinion to yourself.

Dear, don't you have any psychology subject at all? I am a Lady Gaga fan and I may not agree with what Toni Gonzaga said but honestly, there's a real fact to what she is saying. Toni Gonzaga is only giving out her opinion like what we are fighting for. Am I right? Now, I will ask the question to you, Who is the real idiot?

TONI HAS BASIS FOR WHAT SHE SAID. Bobo lang kasi ang iba diyan dahil hindi pala nila alam na may studies to prove that !

Toni Gonzaga isn't st*p*d. She has basis for saying that line: "You are what you listen to". That's not even new. There are studies made by psychologists and spiritual leaders regarding that. The people who took that line literally are STUPID ! That's a figure of speech. In a conversation, expect to be asked where you're at on a certain topic. So she opined. Big deal. You reach a certain age and you find this music doesn't suit you anymore. Means you've matured. If some took offense to her, then her choice of words did her in.

oh my, one of the people commenting in this thread is just the same as that Toni Gonzaga...IGNORANT. Of course people are entitled to their own opinions, but to make an outright ignorant statement (about music influencing minds) like it is a scientific fact is truly dumb, sorry to say. She was not stating her opinion, i think toni gonzaga sadly actually truly believed that what she was saying about "you are what you listen to" is true....she is not "bobo"...she is plain, sadly IGNORANT.
