Inquirer.net reports that the members of API Equality-LA-which is described as "an organization committed to working in the Asian and Pacific Islander communities in Greater Los Angeles for the fair treatment of LGBT people and marriage equality through community education and advocacy"-have reached out to boxing champion Manny Pacquiao "in an effort to foster positive relationships." Pacquiao is currently in Los Angeles to train for his upcoming fight against Tim Bradley in Las Vegas early next month.

The report quoted API Equality-LA member Ezra Evangelista, who said, "It’s important to have positive discussions about Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) rights in our community. We encourage more discussions and would welcome Manny’s participation." Meanwhile, Noel Alumit, another API Equality-LA member also pointed out: "Mr. Pacquiao has uplifted the spirit of Filipinos all over the world, including mine," said Alumit in a statement. "That’s why I was concerned by his comments on gay marriage. Young people look up to him."
