(SPOT.ph) A few hours after the opening of the Olympics, people in Manila geared up for yet another big sports event. It was blue versus green at the Mall of Asia Arena on July 28, and in the first encounter of the most notorious collegiate rivalry in the country, the Ateneo Blue Eagles beat the La Salle Green Archers, 71-61, after a nailbitingly close third quarter.

Save when it's a Blue and Green final, an Ateneo-La Salle match seems to be the most anticipated event in the UAAP. Audience members are almost always more emotionally charged than the players. Hardcore alumni chant, often to the point of hoarseness, their affections for their schools. They are fierce in heckling the other team. And so for this first round, we look the their way. We celebrate people who keep the rivalry alive: the celebrity scene stealers who throw their support behind their school of choice, loyal students unable to conceal their heightened emotions, and more. Check out our gallery:

Some captions are wrong. In one photo, Ateneo had ball possession so it's wrong to say that he was taking a defensive stance. In another, it states that Revilla had many 3s. In fact, he didn't have a single 3. Please be more accurate.

In 68 matches, it's 34-34, both camps. But in their last 10 or 11 matchups, it's not even close, with Ateneo winning 9 of 10 or 10 of 11 games against DLSU. They've got their number, as some people put it.
