The Metro Manila Development Authority will impose tougher guidelines on trucks using Metro Manila's streets to help ease heavy traffic during the holiday season.
Clara Masinag of Interaksyon.com reports trucks will be banned from Epifanio Delos Santos Avenue "from the stretch that starts at Magallanes Interchange to Balintawak." The 24-hour truck ban on that stretch of EDSA will be in force Mondays through Sundays, the report said.
Outside EDSA, trucks will be banned from Metro Manila streets from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. except on Sundays and holidays. Trucks carrying perishable goods like agricultural products are exempted from the ban, the report said.
The MMDA announced the modified truck ban after a meeting with the Special Traffic Committee of the Metro Manila Council and with truck operators.
